Harlan Fischer and 2 other young men at UCLA hosted a dinner to discuss the possibility of establishing a Christian club on campus. They felt that a Christian fraternity would be more reputable, drafted a constitution, and held their first meeting on February 15, 1927. Even back then, the word “Christian” was used loosely. The fraternity was founded as being “Christ-Centered” to make the character of AGO clear – that it was for men who were earnest in their desire to win others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
