b. On October 14th, City Commission adopted the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan as the formal guide for the City of North Port’s Emergency Management Activities. The CEMP addresses all four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The City of North Port CEMP also describes how resources from local, State, Federal and other sources will be coordinated to supplement City resources for disaster response. In accordance with State standards, the City’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) was updated in 2012. Staff has researched the Statutory and Administrative requirements for adoption. To be consistent with the Florida Administrative Code, the CEMP was reviewed and approved by our County’s emergency management. Late last year the CEMP was submitted to Sarasota County Emergency Management for review. Comments received were incorporated into the draft document. Florida Statutes then requires adoption by resolution of the governing body of the jurisdiction. The document will be in-place for four years then reviewed and updated. The Plan will be distributed to City offices, the Red Cross, County emergency management and the North Port Library.
