A Dél-Tiszántúl Annotált Állattani Bibliográfiájának Alapvetése
Crisicum 4. pp.431. _______________________________________________________________________________ A Dél-Tiszántúl annotált állattani bibliográfiájának alapvetése Kalivoda Béla Abstrackt Establishing the basis of the Annotated Zoological Bibliography of the South-Tiszántúl: The goal of this work was to initiate to collect the publications of the zoological data of the South- Tiszántúl (South-East Hungary, see on the maplet) namely the activity area of the Körös-Maros National Park Directorate. During the assembly of the bibliography my principal was the collection of zoological data. So the work contains publications of more or less accurate occurrence data. For the better usages sake the bibliography is annotated. Its items are provided with a code composed from the name of author(s), year of publishing and, if it is necessary, an additional letter code. Annotations contains these codes providing possibility of query by animal species, taxon and location of data. -

Morphological Diagnosis of Sunn Pest, Eurygaster Integriceps (Heteroptera: Scutelleridae) Parasitized by Hexamermis Eurygasteri (Nematoda: Mermithidae)
Tr. Doğa ve Fen Derg. − Tr. J. Nature Sci. 2017 Vol. 6 No. 1 Morphological diagnosis of Sunn pest, Eurygaster integriceps (Heteroptera: Scutelleridae) parasitized by Hexamermis eurygasteri (Nematoda: Mermithidae) Gülcan TARLA*1, Şener TARLA 1, Mahmut İSLAMOĞLU 1 Abstract Hexamermis eurygasteri Tarla, Poinar and Tarla (Nematoda: Mermithidae) is an important natural enemy of Sunn pest (SP), Eurygaster integriceps Put. (Heteroptera: Scutelleridae) in overwintering areas. Adults of this pest become inactive during hibernation and aestivation about nine months in overwintering areas. These areas are very important for biological control of this pest. Because the overwintering adults with entomoparasitic nematodes can be easily collected from there and they can be sent to uninfected overwintering areas for inoculation. The success of this method depends on the morphological diagnosis of individuals infected with mermithids. It is necessary recognizing the individuals that infected with nematodes collected from overwintering areas to be used as biological control agent for the pest management. As a result of the studies carried out for this purpose, it was determined that the bodies of parasitized SP individuals have a wet and greasy appearance. The movement of infected SP is slowed when near nematodes leaving from the host body. Insect head extends forward, the neck is prolonged and nematodes are usually left the body from the cervix. Before leaving from the hosts, the mean distance between the head at eye level and the thorax was measured as 419.4 ± 117.30 μm (n = 11). Critical Species of Odonata in Australia
---Guardians of the watershed. Global status of Odonata: critical species, threat and conservation --- Critical species of Odonata in Australia John H. Hawking 1 & Gunther Theischinger 2 1 Cooperative Research Centre for Freshwater Ecology, Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre, PO Box 921, Albury NSW, Australia 2640. <[email protected]> 2 Environment Protection Authority, New South Wales, 480 Weeroona Rd, Lidcombe NSW, Australia 2141. <[email protected]> Key words: Odonata, dragonfly, IUCN, critical species, conservation, Australia. ABSTRACT The Australian Odonata fauna is reviewed. The state of the current taxonomy and ecology, studies on biodiversity, studies on larvae and the all identification keys are reported. The conservation status of the Australian odonates is evaluated and the endangered species identified. In addition the endemic species, species with unusual biology and species, not threatened yet, but maybe becoming critical in the future are discussed and listed. INTRODUCTION Australia has a diverse odonate fauna with many relict (most endemic) and most of the modern families (Watson et al. 1991). The Australian fauna is now largely described, but the lack of organised surveys resulted in limited distributional and ecological information. The conservation of Australian Odonata also received scant attention, except for Watson et al. (1991) promoting the awareness of Australia's large endemic fauna, the listing of four species as endangered (Moore 1997; IUCN 2003) and the suggesting of categories for all Australian species (Hawking 1999). This conservation report summarizes the odonate studies/ literature for species found in Continental Australia (including nearby smaller and larger islands) plus Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. Australia encompasses tropical, temperate, arid, alpine and off shore island climatic regions, with the land mass situated between latitudes 11-44 os and 113-154 °E, and flanked on the west by the Indian Ocean and on the east by the Pacific Ocean. -

Sun pest, Eurygaster integriceps Puton (Heteroptera: Scutelleridae), is the major pest of wheat and barley in all regions except the Northern and Southern shores of Iran. This pest causes high damage to all vegetative hosts (stems, spikes and leaves) by feeding sap in nymph and adult stages (mother and new generation). Information on its biology and population density was evaluated in order to gain a better understanding of the best way to its control. In this study, we studied the effects of Sardari (dry land) and Gaskogen (aqua culture) wheat cultivars and Sahand barely cultivar (dry land) on population density of nymphs and adults of this pest. Present study was done by sweeping with hand-net and counting square meter quadrate methods in Korayim region of Ardabil, Iran. Results showed that population density of nymphs and adults of E. integriceps on aqua culture cultivar of wheat (Gaskogen) were more than other wheat and barley cultivars. -
Microlepidoptera Palearctica
262 JOURNAL OF THE LEPIDOPTERISTS' SOCIETY BOOK REVIEWS MICROLEPlDOPTERA PALEAHCTICA; VOLUME 2. ETHMlIDAE, by Klaus Sattler. George Fromme & Co., Vienna. In two vols., text xvi + 185 p.; plates, 9 color 97 black & white, each with unnumbered expl. page facing. D ec., 1967. Subscription price: 1,160 Austrian schilling; full price: 1,365 Austrian shilling (about $58.00). [text in German]. This, the second contribution of the ambitious project which plans to systematically treat and illustrate in color all microlepidoptera of the Palearctic Region, follows the same format set forth in Volume 1, the Crambidac, by the late Stanislaw Blezynski, in 1965. Principles of the project are explained in the forward to Volume 1 (see J. Lepid. Soc., 19: 117-125,1965). The treatment of the Gelechioid family Ethmiidae is taxonomically and mechanically accurate and concise throughout. It indudes introductory parts dealing with histori cal development and associated problems in handling material and literature, technical aspects of the work, explanation of taxonomic characters, early stages and bionomics, especially foodplants, and the systematic placement of the family. The systematic portion encompasses 72 species in the genus Ethmia in addition to 4 species of uncertain placement and 4 species transferred to other taxa. In synonymizing other previously described genera, Sattler displays a sensible respect for the appreciation of problems of higher category taxonomy on a world basis. He issues a warning that questions of genera should not be answered on the basis of limited knowledge of only the European or other fauna; and he points out that introduction of new generic names inevitably implies distinctions which may not in reality exist. -
