Finally I must thank my partner Lynne Thomson for her support, help and understanding, and for uncomplainingly listening to far too many cases of “guess what I’ve just found”! It must get tedious. The Family Trees were initially produced using WinGenea v1.7, an effective and, above all, simple shareware program . Tony Pratt, Chippenham, 2002 2 The Manor of Alderton 3rd edition As always allows further and more detailed research, and new material becomes available; for example in 2010 a large number of documents relating to Alderton in the late medieval period came up for auction and the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre was able to buy a number of them and acquire copies of others.

  • Malmesbury - Yate) – Info Sheet
Review of bus services in North West Wiltshire Service 41 (Malmesbury - Yate) – info sheet Summary of proposed change The current two hourly service will be maintained for most of the day, but the section of route between Yate and Badminton would not be served until after 10.00am. South Gloucestershire Council would be asked to make alternative arrangements for children travelling to/from Chipping Sodbury school. Commentary on current service Service 41 provides the main public transport service for Luckington, Sherston and Easton Grey in Wiltshire, and Tormarton, Badminton and Acton Turville in South Gloucestershire. It also provides a link between the towns of Malmesbury, Chipping Sodbury and Yate. It currently runs approximately every two hours between 0730 and 1830 on Mondays to Saturdays. South Gloucestershire Council contribute towards the cost of the service. The service carries around 32,000 passenger journeys a year. However the current timetable requires two buses to operate and so is expensive to provide in relation to the number of passengers carried. Users travel from all of the villages along the route and also between the two towns. Explanation of proposed changes The cost of operating the service could be significantly reduced by removing the need for a second vehicle in the morning. This could be achieved by withdrawal of the journeys to and from Chipping Sodbury and Yate before 10.00am, which are poorly used except for a very small number of schoolchildren travelling from villages outside Wiltshire to Chipping Sodbury. South Gloucestershire Council would be asked to make alternative arrangements for these. Proposed timetable The proposed timetable for service 41 is shown overleaf.
