I am aware that there may be more incidents but, due to the nature of these, or ongoing investigations, I cannot give full details. They are broken down in terms of the agreed priorities for the ward. Road Safety In the afternoon of Friday 31st July, there were concerns regarding the amount of vehicles parked in Gullane, Dirleton and surrounding areas possibly causing safety issues. The situation being mirrored across the county due to the nice weather and people visiting the beaches. The Council and Wardens were aware of the situation and police implemented road closures were necessary. On 14th August, at Longniddry Bents car park no 3, a male was charged with having no valid licence and no insurance. Car seized. On 22nd August at Longniddry Bents a vehicle was seen to be parked on speaking to the occupants drugs were detected and two persons were issued with recordable Police warnings for personal possession 2. Antisocial Behaviour In the afternoon of Wednesday 29th July, youths were seen on the roof of the outhouse at Dirleton Kirk. Police attended however no trace of the youths on arrival. The youths removed 2 tiles from the roof and thrown them onto the ground. Enquiries in the area met with a negative result. Details taken for Vandalism. 3. Housebreaking 4. TBC Other Incidents of note / relevant Community Council information On Saturday 1st August, concerns were raised regarding the amount of tents set up on the beach at Yellowcraigs. East Lothian Council were aware and East Lothian Council Rangers were dealing with the situation. Between Monday 3rd August and Tuesday 4th August, 2 bikes were stolen from a garden in Goose Green Road, Gullane. Details taken and enquiries ongoing. In the evening of Monday 3rd August, whilst on routine mobile patrol, a vehicle was stopped in Aberlady where drugs and drugs paraphernalia were recovered from the vehicle. Driver arrested. On Monday 10th August, about 2050 hours police were called to Kingston regarding 3 men allegedly involved in hare coursing. The men were spotted in fields with two dogs and they later left the area in a blue Daihatsu 4x4 vehicle. Further enquiries being made. In the early morning of 24th August a female contacted the Coast Guard who in turn contacted Police to inform them that her tent had “blown away” and she and her two friends were now “tentless” and had no way of getting shelter!! They were informed as they were able to phone the Coast Guard she should phone a taxi and get a lift home, which they did!!
