Garrich spent three hours working on it this week and it now runs like new -- Thanks Garrich! NEW MEMBERS GEORGE AND GUS MUSTAKAS George and Gus own and operate East Fishkill Provision. Hunters see the flyer in the newsletter for all of your venison processing needs. George and Gus donated the 76lb pig for this years pig roast. STEEL PLATE SCHEDULE Plates will be out October 2nd 16th and 30th. We start at 5pm and shoot until we run out of ammo. Pistol and 22lr only. Call me for details. All 5 Club officer positions are open with one year terms. 4 director positions are open with two year terms. Proposed candidates for office must be a member in good standing for at least two years, and have attended 50% of the current years (Jan-Sept) monthly meetings. Candidates for director positions will be pooled. The Club membership present at the October meeting will vote for their top among the candidates,and those with the most votes will be elected. For membership info checkout our website: http://www.bethlehemrodandgun.com 2019 Sportsman’s Challenge The 6th Annual 2019 Sportsman’s Challenge was held on September 7th. It turned out to be a Sunny 70‐degree day. The weather was perfect for a friendly competition, good food and a special cake was made for the event. There were certificates, cash and a plaque to be awarded. Congratulations to the winners. This year Nick Bruno took 3rd place, with Darren Orzechowski at 2nd and Hunter Montanya winning the Top Shot Plaque. I would like to thank those that came out to support the event and the club.Two new members: Vicky and Pedrohad an enjoyable time.In addition, I would like to thank those that helped with the event: Al Bruno, Nick Bruno, Ralph Ditrocchio, Ron D’Apprille, Hunter Montanya, Ed Malle, Rich Toombs Sr., Joe Valastro, Rudy, Mike Sano, Heidi Kast (the Baker) and also those that dropped off fliers to Sporting Goods Stores in the area.Your support of this event is much appreciated.     At the Elko Bowhunter Classic our traditional shooters did pretty good, Tim Rhyme took 1 st in the recurve division, Mikah Kellers took first in the longbow division. Great job you guys! I don’t know how SAB folks did in other classes… I did a little scouting while I was out there, the entire North East corner of the state is dry, with less snow and water than I have seen out there in number of years. If you have tags out in that area, you will need to take it into consideration, as there may not be water in many areas that there has been in the last few years. Meeting information We had all but two Board members, we also had Ray Gerdes, Cal Yarborough, Paul Delsoldado, Barton Barrow, Wayne and Sandy Thomas, Holly Dean, Owen Mercer, Lystra Pitts, Dan Freshman, Jim Wirgler and Will Barber… Significant action- Voted to return the Bonanza to a shotgun start- based on the back up that we had, which many of the members at the meeting felt was the fault of the staggered start system- that it gets overloaded when you have a large number of people… Bow hunter league- For the past few years, we have run the Bowhunter league, collected all the scores, then had a shoot-off at the Finale’. In order to win the awards for the league, you had to attend the Finale’ to win any of the awards, which were awarded in three categories, adult male all styles except traditional, adult female all styles and traditional.

    Police Aviation—History INTRODUCTION As far as I am aware, this history of the varied methods by which the law enforcement forces of the world arrived in a position whereby, by the late 1990s, most of them have been able to under- take air patrols is the first attempted. The content is exhaustive as possible in the face of a de- gree of secrecy and a certain lack of inertia. The meaning of the word “police” is, I recall from my training days over thirty years ago, the means by which governments endeavor to keep the peace. Although still valid in many parts of the world, this statement to fledgling British police was probably never intended to encompass the sheer diversity of modern law enforcement. Written in the days of Victoria, it was inward look- ing and took no account of the extensive para-military activity that now typifies policing across the world. For this reason the researching and compilation of this book has been complicated by the requirement to make arbitrary decisions about just which law enforcement bodies to include in the survey. Instances of this can be clearly seen from the coverage of the United States of America [USA], the country where the ground swell of law enforcement aviation was, and is, most clearly to be seen. In the USA there are thousands of law enforcement units across the length and breadth of this massive country, some use aircraft. In addition to the hundreds of police, marshall and sheriff units, each thrusting forward, individually and mutually, in the battle against law breakers, there are the large Federal organizations, most of which give the impression of having other, more pressing, duties to perform than law enforcement.
