We decided to draw again and had he been present, Justin Haessly would have won the $500 Attendance Prize. There is no cost as long as you are an EF&GA member in good standing. Classified ads run for ONE newsletter (one month). If you want to repeat an ad for another month (with price adjustments, etc…) simply re-submit the ad request via e-mail. Please submit requests for classified ads via email to [email protected] and be sure to double-check for spelling and grammar errors. Members Only are allowed to submit Classified advertisements. Your Membership Number must be included with any advertisement request so that we can prop- erly vet the submission before it is published. The Membership Number will NOT appear in the advertisement. Your Membership Number is on your membership badge on the same side as your photo. No Illegal Transactions may be advertised in this newsletter. It is now illegal to sell ammunition in California without either going through an FFL or a licensed ammunition reseller. EF&GA cannot facilitate any illegal commerce of a state regulated commodity. This is also why firearm sales should include a phrase similar to Buyer pays DROS when advertising the sale of a firearm. It may sound obvious but requests for classifieds are frequently received with not enough information to be useful to a reader. There are 5 main components of a classified ad: Category – Most classifieds fall into one of 3 categories, ‘For Sale’, ‘Wanted’, or ‘Lost & Found’. Subject/Title – This will appear in bold in the advertisement. This should be short (2 or 3 words) and concise. Description – This is the body of the advertisement and can be a few sentences but not more than a paragraph. Abbreviations appear cryptic and are not recom- mended unless they are well known acronyms. Price – A specific dollar amount as well as qualifiers give the reader important information. For example, “$600 or Best Offer, Buyer pays DROS, Will consider trades” Contact Info – This should be a name AND a phone number (including area code) and/or an e-mail address. 10 CLASSIFIEDS All sales must comply with Federal and State laws!

Welcome to a New Year and somewhere on your “resolution” list should be “I will be a safe and considerate shooter this year”. This is one resolution, unlike going to the gym that you can’t decide to drop just because it becomes inconvenient.

It has been suggested that I might be a bit “snarky” in some of my articles and I would have to agree. On some subjects I have to continually repeat the same thing over and over and over…

One of those repeated subjects (besides multiple Cold Range: targets on the short pistol range) is the Blue/Red lights and what they mean. • Blue Blinking Lights ON • DO NOT handle Firearms & Equipment One of the benefits of arriving at the range early when it is still dark is that it is really easy to see the • Handle Targets Blue lights still blinking... Please turn the lights off • Sweep up brass behind the Yellow before you leave the range!!! and in front of the Red line OK TO GO DOWN RANGE Green Sheets One of the first things we would like you to do is Hot Range: sign in. This gives you the opportunity to see the state of the range (Hot/Cold) and what shooting area • Blue Blinking Lights OFF is available for your use.

• Handle Firearms & Equipment If the range is Hot and you may take your gear • OK to Load/Unload Vehicle directly to a shooting location, but before any setup you must sign into that range. • Sweep up brass behind Red line DO NOT GO DOWN RANGE The Green sheets are used for liability, range use and a way to let us know you were there to return whatever you have may have left with us – remember Cowboy firearms are OK to forget…

This time of year with the rains the range gets green with grass and weeds. The deer and other critters are not afraid of the gunfire and will casually come down the hill and onto the range to enjoy a snack. It is not permissible to shoot by them to scare them off. The range should be go Cold and wait for them to exit the range. If range conditions are permissible they may be “cleared” off the range. Please do not run up the hill especially if other ranges are still Hot…

It is not too late to make another new year’s resolution like volunteering at the Range to assist any of the wonderful Junior Shooting and Range Safety programs.

13 BLACK POWDER NEWS By Garth Warner

January starts the new season of Bullseye League and Black Powder Metallic Silhouette contests. 2019 was a great year for the sport. Our ranks grew throughout the year. Some of the new guys are going to be pushing the old, (more mature), shooters pretty hard this year. For this year I have some challenging contests coming up that should test your skills, your eyesight, and your patience. Stay tuned for more in upcoming newsletters. The 2019 Top Gun contest will be scheduled for April 26th this year. If you won a contest in Master, Open, or Primitive during 2019 you are eligible to enter. To achieve Master Class, you need to shoot a “Possible”, or win a Top Gun contest. Start practicing NOW! BullsEye League Starts January 5

Our new season will begin with a short range rifle competition on Sunday, January 5 at 0800. That first match will consist of 2 targets at 50 yards offhand, shooting 13 shots with the 10 best scores to count for each target.
