CONVENE TO CLOSED SESSION Mrs. Stauss called for the Board to convene to Closed Session at 6:32 PM. ♦ RECONVENE TO OPEN SESSION Mrs. Stauss called for the Board to convene to Open Session at 7:00 PM. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mrs. Stauss announced that the meeting is being recorded. REPORT OF ACTION FROM CLOSED SESSION 1.1 AGREEMENT FOR STIPULATED EXPULSION – A MOTION was made by Mrs. Park and seconded by Mr. Pinney to approve an agreement for the stipulated expulsion of an Adelante High School student. The MOTION carried 5-0 (Aguilera, Huber, Park, Pinney, Stauss). 2.1 PUBLIC EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINE/DISMISSAL/RELEASE PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE §54957 – A MOTION was made by Mrs. Park and seconded by Mr. Pinney to approve Resolution number 1612 to release and reassign an administrator to a certificated position pursuant to Education Code §44951. Roll Call Vote: Mr. Aguilera Aye Mr. Huber Aye Mrs. Park Aye Mr. Pinney Aye Mrs. Stauss Aye The MOTION carried 5-0. 2.2 PUBLIC EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINE/DISMISSAL/RELEASE PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE §54957 – A MOTION was made by Mr. Huber and seconded by Mr. Pinney to approve Resolution number 1613 to non-reelect probationary teachers in accordance with Education Code §44929.21. PAGE 2 2.3 PUBLIC EMPLOYEE DISCIPLINE/DISMISSAL/RELEASE PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE §54957 – A MOTION was made by Mrs. Park and seconded by Mr. Aguilera to approve Resolution number 1614 to release temporary certificated employees pursuant to Education Code §44918(b) and 44954(b). Roll Call Vote: Mr. Aguilera Aye Mr. Huber Aye Mrs. Park Aye Mr. Pinney Aye Mrs. Stauss Aye The MOTION carried 5-0. 3.1 LIABILITY CLAIM, GOVERNMENT CODE §54956.9(d)(2) & §54956.95 – A MOTION was made by Mr. Huber and Mrs. Park to deny a claim for damages brought by claimant Carey Hill, a minor, against the Roseville Joint Union High School District. The MOTION carried 5-0 (Aguilera, Huber, Park, Pinney, Stauss). 3.2 LIABILITY CLAIM, GOVERNMENT CODE §54956.9(d)(2) & §54956.95 – A MOTION was made by Mr. Huber and seconded by Mrs. Park to deny a claim for damages brought by claimant Laura Hill against the Roseville Joint Union High School District. The MOTION carried 5-0 (Aguilera, Huber, Park, Pinney, Stauss). INTRODUCTION OF STUDENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVES Mr. David Byrd, Principal Roseville High School, introduced his Student Board Representative Morgan Cutter and Mr. Jess Borjon, Principal Woodcreek High School, introduced his Student Board Representative Miriam Mars. ♦ SCHOOL PRESENTATION Roseville High School presented information on the Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program. Ms. Melissa Jones introduced the AVID teachers who were in attendance and provided data from the AVID program. The board and staff members heard from four guest speakers: a current freshman student, a current senior student, an alumni student who is attending college and an alumni student who has completed college and is working with high school students. Each of the speakers shared their stories of how the AVID program helped them to navigate high school and college. COMMUNICATIONS The Board received a communication from the Division of the State Architect certifying that the construction of the “1-Scoreboard at Oakmont High School” is complete and all the “Verified Reports” covering the construction have been received. AUDIENCE TO VISITORS None. NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC All matters listed under the Consent Agenda are considered to be routine and all will be enacted by one motion with a roll call vote. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless the Board of Trustees, audience, or staff requests specific items to be removed from the Consent Agenda for separate action. Any items removed will be considered after the motion to approve the Consent Agenda. 16-046 CONSENT AGENDA (SINGLE MOTION NEEDED) A MOTION was made by Mr. Aguilera and was seconded by Mrs. Park to approve the items on the consent agenda as presented. ACTION MATTERS, REGULAR AGENDA 04-093 AWARD OF BID – BERRY STREET WATERLINE – A MOTION was made by Mr. Pinney and seconded by Mr. Joiner to award bid for the Berry Street waterline project to supply water for fire protection on the Roseville High School campus. HUBER GARY JOHNSON JULIE HIROTA Measure D Progress There has been a flurry of activity since the voters approved Measure D last November. Over the winter break, carpet and flooring were replaced on several campuses and other small paint and furniture projects were completed. Here is a breakdown by site of the work since then. 6th High School – District teachers and staff resolved the final changes to drawings with the architects last Fall and the final plans were submitted to the Division of State Architects in December. We have worked with DSA on resolving concerns over the spring and summer. We expect approved plans any day now. The district will begin the process of selecting the contractor for the project in January and February and intend to break ground in April, or whenever the bulk of the rainy season is behind us. Everything is on target for the scheduled opening of the school in August of 2020! A steering committee of parents has been meeting. The board of trustees has solicited input from over 2000 residents of the new schools attendance area and will be selecting the name, colors and mascot in December. Antelope High School– An architectural firm who specializes in theaters was selected last spring and they have worked with the site staff on the design of the new performing arts center. Plans have been submitted to DSA and we hope to break ground in April on that project. The facility will feature retractable seating that will enable much wider use of the facility than a traditional theater.
