 INTRODUCTION OF STUDENT BOARD REPRESENTATIVES Mr. David Byrd, Principal Roseville High School, introduced his Student Board Representative Morgan Cutter and Mr. Jess Borjon, Principal Woodcreek High School, introduced his Student Board Representative Miriam Mars.

♦ SCHOOL PRESENTATION Roseville High School presented information on the Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) program. Ms. Melissa Jones introduced the AVID teachers who were in attendance and provided data from the AVID program. The board and staff members heard from four guest speakers: a current freshman student, a current senior student, an alumni student who is attending college and an alumni student who has completed college and is working with high school students. Each of the speakers shared their stories of how the AVID program helped them to navigate high school and college.

 COMMUNICATIONS The Board received a communication from the Division of the State Architect certifying that the construction of the “1-Scoreboard at Oakmont High School” is complete and all the “Verified Reports” covering the construction have been received.

♦ INFORMATION MATTERS 16-047 DROUGHT UPDATE AND CONTINUED WATER CONSERVATION PLAN – Mr. Joe Landon, Assistant Superintendent Business Services, provided an update on the District’s water conservation plan. The District’s average reduction for 2015 was 34%. He shared information on the mandated water reduction percentages for 2016. The District will continue with the same priorities for water conservation that were implemented in 2015 and will continue to pursue potential water reduction projects in 2016.

♦ ACTION MATTERS, REGULAR AGENDA 16-048 APPROVAL OF UPDATED BOARD POLICY 6201, ADULT EDUCATION GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS – A MOTION was made by Mr. Aguilera and seconded by Mr. Huber to approve the revisions in Board Policy 6201, Adult Education Graduation Requirements. The MOTION carried 5-0 (Aguilera, Huber, Park, Pinney, Stauss). 16-049 AWARD OF E-RATE BIDS FOR INTERNET SERVICE, WIRELESS EQUIPMENT AND NETWORK EQUIPMENT – A MOTION was made by Mr. Huber and seconded by Mrs. Park to award a telecommunication service contract to Consolidated Communications (3-year term), a wireless equipment purchase agreement to CDW-G and a network equipment purchase agreement to CDW-G. 16-050 FY 2015-16 SECOND INTERIM FINANCIAL REPORT – A MOTION was made by Mr. Pinney and seconded by Mrs. Park to approve the Second Interim Financial Report for the period ending January 31, 2016. The MOTION carried 5-0 (Aguilera, Huber, Park, Pinney, Stauss). 16-051 PUBLIC DISCLOSURE OF FY 2015-16 CSEA GROUP AGREEMENT AND RATIFICATION OF AGREEMENT – A MOTION was made by Mr. Huber and seconded by Mr. Pinney to 1) ratify the CSEA Agreement, 2) authorize the execution of “Certification of the District’s Ability to Meet the Costs of the Collective Bargaining Agreement”, and 3) authorize the execution of “Certification of Public Disclosure” for CSEA.  COMMENTS FROM BOARD AND STAFF Mrs. Stauss announced that the second board meeting in March will be cancelled. The student board representative from Woodcreek High School reported that the students raised over $6,000 during their Pennies for Patients fundraiser. The student board representative from Roseville High School reported that the school’s speech and debate team qualified for the State tournament and that the Academic Decathlon team won the section title. Board and staff members thanked the schools for presenting their Single School Plans. Roseville High School was thanked for their presentation on the AVID program. A board member reported that he attended the speaker series event at Oakmont High School. He also reported that he is working on the upcoming Cesar Chavez Youth Leadership Conference. He encouraged everyone to attend the event on April 9th at the University of California, Davis. A board member noted the John Wooden quote: “Apply yourself every day to just becoming a little bit better.” The student board representative from Roseville High School was congratulated for their version of the television show Shark Tank. A staff member commented on Federal Program Monitoring process at the Roseville Adult School, saying that our school’s do a good job of acknowledging their strengths, but are also willing to look at their weaknesses in an effort to get a little better every day. Another staff member mentioned the Chili Cook-off to be held at Maidu Park. The proceeds benefit Point Break, an anti-bullying program.
