Davis Cup-Laget Uttaget: ”Vi Måste Visa Mod” Stockholm den 23 februari 2016 Davis Cup-laget uttaget: ”Vi måste visa mod” Laget till nästa veckas Davis Cup-match är nominerat – utan Sveriges främste singelspelare. Elias Ymer är sjuk och saknas i truppen. – Vi har inte stängt dörren, säger förbundskapten ”Fidde” Rosengren. Den 4–6 mars väntar Ryssland på bortaplan när Sveriges herrlandslag inleder en ny säsong i Davis Cup-tennisens division 1 (Europa-/Afrikazonens grupp 1). Robert Lindstedt (rankad 26 i dubbel), Johan Brunström (92) Isak Arvidsson (661 i singel) och Daniel Windahl (962) ingår i det lag som kaptensduon Fredrik "Fidde" Rosengren och Joakim Nyström nominerade på tisdagen. Markus Eriksson, rankad 482, är femte man i truppen. Dubbelparet Brunström/Lindstedt är obesegrat i DC-sammanhang och är givna i uppställningen. I singel hålls platserna öppna in i det sista inför lottningen på torsdag nästa vecka. Debutanten Windahl, Arvidsson och Eriksson är i dagsläget aktuella för de två singelplatserna då Elias Ymer saknas i det nominerade laget. 19-åringen konstaterades sjuk i influensa förra veckan och behandlas med antibiotika och virushämmande medel. – Det blir en kamp mot klockan, dörren gläntar lite men det ser otroligt svårt ut med tanke på att han har virus i kroppen och vilka förberedelser som krävs för att spela fem set i en DC- match. Det gäller att vara realist och se till hans karriär i övrigt. Det är läkarna som får avgöra när han kan börja träna, säger förbundskapten ”Fidde” Rosengren. Lillebror Ymer, Mikael, gjorde en lyckad Davis Cup-debut i nedflyttningsmötet med Danmark i fjol men är skadad och missar Rysslandsmatchen. Favoriten Ryssland ställer ett upp med ett starkt lag på hemmaplan: Teymuraz Gabashvili (rankad 47 i singel), Andrey Kuznetsov (53), Evgeny Donskoy (80) Konstantin Kravchuk (125). – Vi möter spelare som är rankade topp 50 i världen. Vi kan inte störa dem om vi fegar. Det är full fart, full risk som gäller och vi måste våga, våga, våga och visa mod hela tiden. Vi har vissa slag som är precis lika vassa som ryssarna, vi måste våga använda dem hela tiden – ligga på bergskanten, riskera och vara modiga. Om vi ska ha någon chans måste vi tro på det, säger Rosengren. Segraren ställs mot Holland i juli, medan förloraren kvalar för att stanna kvar i divisionen.
