The parish of Forest and Wildboarclough lies approximately 4 miles west of and 4 miles southeast of Macclesfield. Wildboarclough is a small settlement of a few farms and cottages which sits alongside Clough Brook, nestled between Shutlingslow and Mount Pleasant to the west and Cut-thorn Hill and Birchenough Hill to the east. lies just over 1 mile to the northwest. Wildboarclough and Macclesfield Forest are located within the slopes and valleys with woodland and moorlands, hills and ridges character areas of the South West Peak landscape area as described in the Landscape Strategy (LSAP 2009).
