Advisory Visit River Bollin, Styal Country Park, Cheshire February 2010 1.0 Introduction This report is the output of a site visit undertaken by Tim Jacklin of the Wild Trout Trust to the River Bollin, Cheshire on 19th February 2010. Comments in this report are based on observations on the day of the site visit and discussions with Kevin Nash (Fisheries Technical Specialist) and Andy Eaves (Fisheries Technical Officer) of the Environment Agency (EA), North West Region (South Area). Normal convention is applied throughout the report with respect to bank identification, i.e. the banks are designated left hand bank (LHB) or right hand bank (RHB) whilst looking downstream. 2.0 Catchment / Fishery Overview The River Bollin is 49 km long and rises in the edge of Macclesfield Forest, flowing west to join the River Mersey (Manchester Ship Canal) near Lymm. The River Dean is the major tributary of the Bollin, and the catchment area totals 273 km2. The section of river visited flows through Styal Country Park, downstream of Quarry Bank Mill, and is owned by the National Trust. A previous Wild Trout Trust visit was carried out further downstream at the National Trust property at Dunham Massey. The Bollin falls within the remit of the Mersey Life Project which aims to carry out a phased programme of river restoration, initially focussing on the non-tidal section of the River Mersey, the River Bollin and River Goyt (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/wildlife/102362.aspx). The construction of fish passes on Heatley and Bollington Mill weirs in the lower Bollin catchment means it is now possible for migratory species (e.g. -

Audlem Doddington Wybunbury Parish Profile
THE BENEFICE OF AUDLEM, DODDINGTON AND WYBUNBURY. The benefice was created in February 2010. Prior to that Doddington and Wybunbury were linked but Audlem was a single parish church. On the retirement of the incumbent at Wybunbury and Doddington, the benefice was created with the in situ incumbent for Audlem being appointed Vicar to the 3 churches. Since this time, the churches have retained their own identities, services and PCC’s but also work well together. People do support events at each of the churches. 2 Lay Readers work across all 3 churches, one retired priest supports services in Audlem, the other is at Doddington most weeks with occasional services in Wybunbury. It is located near to main line train services in Crewe, close to junction 16 of the M6. What we offer to our new incumbent • welcoming and supportive congregations and communities ● our prayerful support and encouragement ● our respect for your home life, your prayer life and encouragement and support to take holidays and regular time off each week ● the support of 2 retired Priests on a regular basis, 2 Lay Readers, strong PCC’s and experienced Church Wardens. Also many volunteers are willing to lead intercessions or read in church and a group take part in ‘open the book’ school worship. ● excellent and close links with 4 caring and effective C of E primary schools ● a church band at Wybunbury that enhances worship in a modern designed church. Flexible Transport Service: the Old Security Lodge, Crewe Hall
Flexible Transport Service It provides a door-to-door transport service for those people who do not have their own transport and find ordinary buses too difficult to use. It operates Monday to Friday 9:30 to 16:00. The Crewe and Nantwich Flexible Transport scheme covers Crewe and Nantwich town centres and on certain days includes Audlem, Acton, Burland, Hough Hankelow, Haslington, Hatherton, Shavington, Sound, Stapeley, Wistaston, Willaston, Wybunbury, Winterley and Wrenbury. In the Congleton area, the Dial-a-Ride scheme covers the towns of Congleton, Sandbach, Middlewich, Alsager and the villages of Brereton, Goostrey, Hassall Green, Holmes Chapel, Moston, Rode Heath, Scholar Green and Smallwood. The booking staff will be able to tell you when trips run in your area. Category(ies): Socialising, Transport, Transport, Services Who it is for: Anyone living in the Cheshire East area who cannot use ordinary buses due to disability, can use the service for any purpose within the designated operating area (except for trips normally done by the Health and Adult Services). St Michael’s Church, North Rode http://northrodechurch.org.uk Introduction By contrast to Gawsworth, North Rode is a smaller parish. After many years in a benefice of 4 small parishes, we became part of a benefice with Gawsworth in the 2014 reorganisation, and have had the privilege of being led by the Rector. We only justify one service each Sunday, but aim to cover all types. Many of the congregation live in other parishes, with some being previous residents, but are attracted to our traditional services. We look forward to a new Rector who can build on our traditions and with God’s guidance keep the parish alive. History St Michael’s Church, North Rode, between Macclesfield and Congleton, is a grade II listed building donated by the Daintry family, and consecrated in 1846. It was designed by Charles and James Trubshaw and stone built in mainly Romanesque and Gothic revival style with a tower housing a clock on the west side. Notable features are the hammer-beam roof, encaustic floor tiles incorporating the Daintry crest, four brass corona chandeliers over the aisle, and a small statue of St Michael in a niche above the south door. Later enhancements include wood carving on the altar, rood screen and font cover done by local people around 1900. In 1904 the new oak choir stalls were added, the work of the Macclesfield School of Carvers. The vicar’s vestry was added at a later date. The kneelers were all stitched in the 1970s by ladies in the village and were organised by the late Mrs Tudor Evans of the Grange. -

The last Order under Section 51 of the Local Government Act 1972 in relation to the electoral arrangements for the districts in the County of Cheshire was made on 28 September 1978. As required by Section 63 and Schedule 9 of the Act we have now reviewed the electoral arrangements for that county, using the procedures we had set out in our Report No 6. 2. We informed the Cheshire County Council in a consultation letter dated 12 January 1979 that we proposed to conduct the review, and sent copies of the letter to the district councils, parish councils and parish meetings in the county, to the Members of Parliament representing the constituencies concerned, to the headquarters of the main political parties and to the editors both of » local newspapers circulating in the county and of the local government press. Notices in the local press announced the start of the review and invited comments from members of the public and from interested bodies. 3» On 1 August 1979 the County Council submitted to us a draft scheme in which they suggested 71 electoral divisions for the County, each returning one member in accordance with Section 6(2)(a) of the Act.
