Active Volcanoes of the Kurile Islands

Volcanoes with documented historical eruptions are shown with the year Kamchatka of the most recent eruptive activity. An “active ” is defined as 50°N meeting at least one of three criteria: (1) A historically documented Peninsula eruption, (2) current fumarolic activity, or (3) scientific dating of an eruption within the past 3,500 years. Where no year is given, the date of the last Sea of eruption is uncertain.
