SODBUSTERS REVEAL LOGO AND SIGN COACH WITH MLB EXPERIENCE

The Sodbusters are also proud to announce an assistant coach, Jason Stein. Stein is in his first year as the hitting coach for Scottsdale Community College in the highly regarded Arizona Community College Athletic Conference. Prior to his current coaching position, Stein spent the last two seasons as the hitting coach for Glendale Community College.

Prior to coaching Junior College, Stein was a Major League Assistant Hitting Coach for various organizations. In his 2 years with the Texas Rangers, Stein had the unique responsibility of implementing, facilitating and coordinating pre-game routines for hitters at the Major League level. Primarily drills designed specifically for each player including a hitting specific vision training program for every level of the Rangers organization, but spending the majority of time with the Major League team. Stein and Rangers Shin-Soo Choo work closely together in the off-season as well, and have done so since 2008.

Prior to joining the Rangers in 2014, Stein spent the previous 9 years as a member of the organization as the Major League Assistant Hitting Coach from 2005-13. In that time, Stein worked one on one with hitters such as Michael Brantley, Jason Kipnis, Jason Giambi, Asdrubal Cabrera, Carlos Santana, and among others.

Additionally, as a way to give back, Stein has spent the last 19 years working with youth baseball organizations in Texas and Arizona. Stein currently owns and operates a club ball organization in Arizona (Team HeavySwing). In that span Stein has taught over 8,000 hours of hitting lessons, not including Practices, Camps and Clinics.

Stein is the son of a former Major League Player and minor league Manager and Coach (Bill Stein). He was an infielder who attended the University of Texas at Arlington, and Richland College in Dallas, Texas before that, where he played in back to back Junior College World Series. Stein got seven professional at- bats as a player.

Jason and his wife Jennifer live in Phoenix, AZ and have three children, Taylor, Victor and Payton, and one grandson, Evan.
