Foreword The internet and online applications are growing at a rapid pace, tangible for all of us in our daily lives. However, the implications for many industries have also achieved enormous momentum and the differences between winning and losing in this environment are not that far apart. Arthur D. Little observes with reflective awareness the growing importance of ‘online’ and its impact to the automotive industry. It seems that the emotional aspect accompanying the process of choosing and buying a car represents a clear barrier to the acceleration towards ‘online.’ Nevertheless, many other sectors have successfully taken the step to online transformation and have improved the effectiveness and efficiency of sales and the underlying processes. Most automotive manufacturers have initiated transformation programs, often using an experimental approach to new marketing tools or new ways of managing different customer touch points. Arthur D. Little has supported several leading manufacturers to find answers to how and when the automotive industry will be significantly affected by the digital transformation of our society and how to cope with it. The picture we want to give to the market is the importance of the transformation process as a general trend, having specific relevance for the major customer touch points. We think that those who are prepared to abandon the old patterns that have characterized the amazing story of success for the automotive industry of the past century will discover that customers are ready to participate with enthusiasm in new forms of communication and interaction with automotive manufacturers - and dealers. We would like to thank all those who have accompanied us in the last six months in the preparation of this study and who have helped us to generate this important point of view. We are confident that the automotive industry will benefit from the analysis and details provided within the study to better address its processes of change. Sincerely, Giancarlo Agresti Partner, Head of the Global Automotive & Manufacturing Group [email protected] 3 Spinning the Wheel Online Executive Summary For the past 125 years, the automotive industry has been n Research happens online and drives offline sales steadily evolving on a global scale. • My Life, -.:: GEOCITIES.Ws
My Life, according to George Michael Correva l’anno 1984 quando un ragazzino non ancora maggiorenne ascoltò per la prima volta un pezzo da discoteca… piacevole, allegro, accattivante nei suoi coretti e in quel suono “strano” che ne segnava l’inizio: una specie di “bro-bbro” distorto. Ascoltavamo, io e i miei amici, solo musica inglese o comunque straniera, in quel periodo.

Toronto, Ontario M5V 2G9 e. [email protected] THE HIGH STAKES GAME OF CATASTROPHIC DRUG COVERAGE FOR CANADIANS THE CAMPAIGN TO CONTROL CANCER Executive Summary A national catastrophic drug plan is critically needed in Canada. Over three million Canadians are unprotected against high drug costs. A wave of new targeted therapies is entering the market, offering promise in once-untreatable diseases but at prices beyond the reach of individual Canadians. The time has come for action. Accountability needed Canadas First Ministers committed to a catastrophic drug program in the Health Accords of 2003 and 2004: For individual Canadians and their families, Catastrophic Drug Coverage will help to ensure that no one will be denied access to necessary, very high-cost drugs based on where they live, or their ability to pay. No Canadian should suffer undue financial hardship for needed drug therapy. (Health Accord 2003) Yet, despite action by some provinces, the system remains inconsistent and in many areas inadequate. A growing problem The problem is large and growing. One in nine residents is not protected against high drug costs and this proportion increases each year (The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology, 2002). Many new targeted therapies for severe illnesses are not automatically covered by the public health system because they are taken outside the hospital.
