Empowering Lives. For nearly a century, since 1919, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. has been assisting the poor, protecting the vulnerable, empowering the broken, advocating for social justice and promoting human dignity. Over the past 98 years, the agency evolved in response to the changing needs of the communities in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Today, Catholic Charities is one of the largest human services’ agencies in the three county area, and functions as the social service arm of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The theme of this 2016-2017 Annual Report is “Empowering Urban Arts Partnership created a unique, inspiring mural for San Pedro Lives,” an extension of Catholic Charities’ taglines: “Providing Region’s Mahar House-MY CLUB Community Center in Wilmington.
