KICKSTART SCHEME A PROGRAMME FOR 16-24 YEAR OLDS
Suffolk regional colleges; East Coast College, Suffolk New College and West Suffolk College have created a support package for young contact time people employed through the Kickstart Scheme. Two days per month
The individually tailored package has been developed as part of the programme of support being made available through the Suffolk Kickstart Gateway Partnership, to help employers create high quality cost placements that provide real benefits for both employers and young £750 people, equipping them with new skills and competencies for a successful placement and future career. We are offering a six month support package which includes the following: • Monthly mentoring sessions, including initial review and training needs analysis, ongoing progression reviews and support on next steps • English and maths diagnostic for those who do not hold a grade C/4 • A one-day course in developing softer skills and getting ready for the workplace • Support to complete a ‘Record of Progress’ which will include target review, certification of course attendance and feedback on progress
This package supports the young person to further develop employability and softer skills. An online qualification would be delivered covering the following:
• Communication and working as a team • Personal development and target setting • CV writing • Interview techniques • Motivation and organisational skills • English, maths and digital skills development
