BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORY NOTE: Steven Jay Rubin was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 9, 1951. Rubin is a film historian and the founder and president of the production company, Fast Carrier Pictures, Inc. He has worked as a publicist for over 150 films and television series. Rubin has also directed and produced various film projects, contributed to DVD commentaries (THE GREAT ESCAPE), and contributed writing to magazines (Cinefantastique, CinemaRetro). Rubin is considered to be an expert on James Bond films, and has written the following books: The James Bond Films (1981), The James Bond Films: A Behind the Scenes History (1981), and The Complete James Bond Movie Encyclopedia (1990). Other books by Rubin include: Combat Films: American Realism, 1945-70 (1981), Combat Films : American Realism, 1945-2010, Reel Exposure : How to Publicize and Promote Today's Motion Pictures (1991), and The Twilight Zone Encyclopedia (2017). -

John Hawkesworth Scope and Content
JOHN HAWKESWORTH SCOPE AND CONTENT Papers relating to film and television producer, scriptwriter and designer JOHN STANLEY HAWKESWORTH. Born: London, 7 December 1920 Died: Leicester, 30 September 2003 John Hawkesworth was born the son of Lt.General Sir John Hawkesworth and educated at Rugby and Queen's College, Oxford. Between school and university he spent a year studying art at the Sorbonne in Paris, where Picasso corrected his drawings once a week. Following the military tradition of his family, Hawkesworth joined the Grenadier guards in 1940 and had a distinguished World War II record. In 1943 he married Hyacinth Gregson-Ellis and on demobilisation from the army began work in the film industry as an assistant to Vincent Korda. As art director he worked on many films for British Lion including The THIRD MAN (GB, 1949), OUTCAST OF THE ISLANDS (GB, 1951), and The SOUND BARRIER (GB, 1952). As a freelance designer he was involved with The MAN WHO NEVER WAS (GB, 1955) and The PRISONER (GB, 1955). Joining the Rank Organisation as a trainee producer, Hawkesworth worked on several films at Pinewood and was associate producer on WINDOMS WAY (GB, 1957) and TIGER BAY (GB, 1959). Hawkesworth's writing for television began with projects including HIDDEN TRUTH (tx 9/7/1964 - 6/10/1964), BLACKMAIL (Associated Rediffusion tx 1965 - 1966) and the 13 part BBC series CONAN DOYLE (tx 15/1/1967 - 23/4/1967), before embarking on the acclaimed LWT series The GOLDROBBERS (tx 6/6/1969 - 29/4/1969). It was with the latter that the Sagitta Production Company who were to produce the highly successful Edwardian series UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS (tx 1970 - 1975) for LWT, came into existence, making Hawkesworth and his long term professional partner Alfred Shaughnessy household names. -

Sound for Hitchhiker’s initially relied on sound to create the strange worlds visited by its reluctant hero, Arthur Dent. In his introduction to a collection of the radio scripts, Adams wrote: “I wanted the voices and the effects and the music to be so seamlessly orchestrated as to create a coherent sound picture of a whole other world.” The TV version did its best with the computer graphics and effects technology of the time but the new film comes at a point when computer- generated effects are catching up to Adams’ imagi- nation. L'équipe tourne les extérieurs à la Jamaïque ce qui permet à Ian Fleming , le créateur de James Bond de visiter le tournage . L'écrivain Britannique rencontre alors les deux vedettes du film : Sean Connery et Ursula Andress, alors qu'il est en pleine écriture du nouveau Bond littéraire : Au Service Secret de sa Majesté (1963). Malgré ses premières reserves sur le côté rustre de Connery, il est vite bluffé par 2 les deux acteurs et décide de donner au parents de James Bond qui sont mentionnés dans le livre la nationalité de Sean Connery et d'Ursula Andress : Ecossais et Suissesse. Ian Fleming est rassuré : les producteurs ont fait le bon choix, Sean Connery est bel et bien l'agent tueur et sophistiqué qu'il a crée . INTERVIEW WITH MARTIN GRACE (ROGER MOORE STUNT DOUBLE) - 2009/2010 Interview by Anders Frejdh, Founder of From Sweden with Love, and Marie-France Vienne, webmaster for Roger Moore’s official website. First of all, could you tell us a little bit about yourself? I was born in Kilkenny, Ireland on September 12, 1942. I attended National School at a little place called Lisdowney. The village master in the town thought his little school were the best. He was a sincere man and stern to view. That was from the age of 6 to 14. Then, I attended the college in Kilkenny City. It was during this time that I experienced the excitement of watching my first action movies by a travelling film show in a tent. It was sheer magic. I went to London in the early 1960’s and attended Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. I took a job with Butlins Holiday Camp in 1963, organising sport and playing in their theatre to gain experience. I won a Charlton Heston talent contest in 1974 that took me to Hollywood for the first time. I was already preparing my skills with boxing, wrestling, fencing, swimming, trampoline and gym work out, special motorcar and motorcycling driving skills, parachuting and various other sports in view of becoming an action stunt man in films. I attended stunt classes to learn the basics and joined a stunt agency for films and commercials. It was for commercials that I got my first stunt jobs. The white knight in Supersoft hairspray and the action man on Cadburys milk tray chocolates stunts.
