The Holy See PIUS PP. XII APOSTOLICA ADHORTATIO MENTI NOSTRAE* AD CLERUM UNIVERSUM PACEM ET COMMUNIONEM CUM APOSTOLICA SEDE HABENTEM : DE SACERDOTALIS VITAE SANCTITATE PROMOVENDA. Venerabiles Fratres ac dilecti filii salutem et Apostolicam Benedictionem Menti Nostrae vox resonat Divini Redemptoris Petro dicentis : « Simon Ioannis, diligis me plus his?. pasce agnos meos, pasce oves meas » (cfr.
The Mediation of the Church in Some Pontifical Documents Francis X
THE MEDIATION OF THE CHURCH IN SOME PONTIFICAL DOCUMENTS FRANCIS X. LAWLOR, SJ. Weston College N His recent encyclical letter, Hurnani generis, of Aug. 12, 1950, the I Holy Father reproves those who "reduce to a meaningless formula the necessity of belonging to the true Church in order to achieve eternal salvation."1 In the light of the Pope's insistence in the same encyclical letter on the ordinary, day-by-day teaching office of the Roman Pontiffs, it will be useful to select from the infra-infallible but authentic teaching of the Popes some of the abundant material touching the question of the mediatorial function of the Church in the order of salvation. The Popes, to be sure, do not speak and write after the manner of theo logians but as pastors of souls, and it is doubtless not always easy to transpose to a theological level what is contained in a pastoral docu ment and expressed in a pastoral method of approach. Yet the authentic teaching of the Popes is both a guide to, and a source of, theological thinking. The documents cited are of varying solemnity and doctrinal importance; an encyclical letter is clearly of greater magisterial value than, let us say, an occasional epistle to some prelate. It is not possible here to situate each citation in its documentary context; but the force and point of a quotation, removed from its documentary perspective, is perhaps as often lessened as augmented. Those who wish may read them in their context, if they desire a more careful appraisal of evidence. -

* * * I. On the Nature of a Consecration Generally speaking, a consecration means a dedication of persons or things to the divine cult. -

The Holy See
The Holy See PRINCEPS PASTORUM ENCYCLICAL OF POPE JOHN XXIII ON THE MISSIONS, NATIVE CLERGY, AND LAY PARTICIPATION NOVEMBER 28, 1959 To Our Venerable Brethren, the Patriarchs, Primates, Archbishops, Bishops, and other Local Ordinaries in Peace and Communion with the Apostolic See.Venerable Brethren, Health and Apostolic Benediction. On the day when "the Prince of the Shepherds" (1) entrusted to Us His lambs and sheep, (2) God's flock, which dwells all over the earth, We responded to the sweet invitation of His love with a sense of Our unworthiness but with trust in His all- powerful assistance. And the magnitude, the beauty, and the importance of the Catholic Missions have been constantly on Our mind. (3) For this reason, We have never ceased to devote to them Our greatest solicitude and attention. And at the close of the first year marking the anniversary of Our reception of the triple Tiara, in the sermon which We delivered on that solemn occasion We mentioned as among the happiest events of Our Pontificate the day, October 10th, on which over four hundred missionaries gathered in the most holy Vatican Basilica to receive from Our hands the crucifix, image of Jesus Christ Crucified, before leaving for distant parts of the world to illumine them with the light of Christianity.Early Interest2. The Most Provident Lord, in His secret and loving designs, willed that, in its very first years, Our priestly mission should be oriented toward the furthering of this cause; in fact, immediately after the conclusion of the First World War, Our predecessor Benedict XV called Us to Rome from Our diocese, so that We could devote Our zeal to the Pontifical Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith, a function which We most willingly performed during four years of Our priestly life. -

STUDIES in the Spirituality of Jesuits 1. The Christian Life Communities as Sprung from the Sodalities of Our Lady George E. Ganss, S.J. 2. A Specimen Copy of Communications from the International Service in Ignatian Spirituality, Rome Articles by Miss Jose Gsell Sister Franchise Vandermeersch Published by the American Assistancy Seminar on Jesuit Spirituality, especially for American Jesuits working out their aggiornamento in the spirit of Vatican Council II Vol. VII March, 1975 No. 2 THE AMERICAN ASSISTANCE SEMINAR ON JESUIT SPIRITUALITY consists of a group of Jesuits from various provinces who are listed below. The members were appointed by the Fathers Provincial of the United States. The purpose of the Seminar is to study topics pertaining to the spiritual doctrine and practice of Jesuits, especially American Jesuits, and to com- municate the results to the members of the Assistancy. The hope is that this will lead to further discussion among all American Jesuits — in pri- vate, or in small groups, or in community meetings. • All this is done in the spirit of Vatican Council II' s recommendation to religious institutes to recapture the original charismatic inspiration of their founders and to adapt it to the changed circumstances of modern times. The members of the Seminar welcome reactions or comments in regard to the topics they publish. To achieve these purposes, especially amid today's pluralistic cultures, the Seminar must focus its direct attention sharply, frankly, and specifi- cally on the problems, interests, and opportunities of the Jesuits of the United States. However, many of these interests are common also to Jesuits of other regions, or to other priests, religious men or women, or lay men or women. -
Lumen Gentium Annotated
Lumen Gentium Annotated an examination of the hundreds of errors contained in this momentous document which turned the tide of the modernist revolution in the Catholic Church By the editors of Quanta Cura Press ©TM This book is dedicated to St. Thomas Aquinas, who is the Common Doctor of the Catholic Church, and whose writings are the vaccine (as well as antidote) against the pandemic modernism which has infected the Church, including Her hierarchy at the highest levels. ii “[C]ertain it is that the passion for novelty is always united in [the modernists] with hatred of scholasticism [i.e ., the philosophy and theology of St. Thomas Aquinas], and there is no surer sign that a man is on the way to Modernism than when he begins to show his dislike for [the scholastic] system .” Pope St. Pius X, Pascendi Dominici Gregis , 1907, ¶42 (emphasis added) . “Thomas refutes the theories propounded by Modernists in every sphere …. Modernists are so amply justified in fearing no Doctor of the Church so much as Thomas Aquinas.” Pope Pius XI, Studiorum Ducem , ¶27. "In Persona Christi" Its Significance for the Theology of Ministerial
"IN PERSONA CHRISTI" ITS SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE THEOLOGY OF MINISTERIAL PRIESTHOOD IN THE DOCUMENTS OF VATICAN II by Jerome F. Thompson, B.A. A Thesis submitted to the Faculty of the Graduate School, Marquette University, in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Arts Milwaukee, Wisconsin Apr iI, 1987 Preface It was in my service as Coordinator of Hispanic Affairs for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee that I felt the need to formally work toward a degree in theology at Marquette University. The Hispanic community and the staff of the Apostolate inspired and encouraged me to undertake the task. A lot of years and a lot of work have intervened since this work was first begun. I wish to express my thanks to the Hispanic community and staff in Milwaukee for their continued personal and academic support. It am grateful to the members of the theology department of Marquette, especially Rev. William Kelly SJ and Rev. Philip J. Rossi SJ in their assistance as chairs of the department, to Rev. Richard Roach SJ, my first advisor, and Rev. Donald Keefe SJ, my final advisor, for their patience and guidance, and to Rev. Joseph Lienhard SJ and Rev. Joseph Murphy SJ who served on the reading and approval committee. I wish also to express my thanks to the officers and staff of the National Organization for the Continuing Education of Roman Catholic Clergy (NOCERCC) for whom I have worked these past five years for nudging me on and enduring my research ,and writing. Catholic Theological Union in Chicago provided a great support to me especially through its fine library resources. -

Il non indifferente numero di scritti sulla Vergine perC> ci ha costretto a proporre dei limiti alIa nostra elencazione: non e infatti possibile elencare tutto quanta e stato scritto ed ovunque, sulla Madre di Dio.
