K-Tools is a software solution for automating the engineer-to-order process.

Over time, Kongsberg Maritime improved the productivity of their ETO process 10-fold; from two person-months to two person-days.

With its rule engine, K-Tools significantly reduced the margin for human error.

A radical decrease in the ETO process meant improved competitiveness and millions of NOK in savings for Kongsberg Maritime. Kongsberg Maritime — Integrated Software for Generating Complex Project Documents Project Details Customer Kongsberg Maritime AS Kongsberg Maritime AS (Kongsberg Maritime) is a Norwegian enterprise in the . Kongsberg Maritime delivers technology solutions for positioning, surveying, navigation and automation of merchant vessels and offshore installations. Project K-Tools Kongsberg Maritime provides technology solutions for vessel navigation, automation, and decision support. Each vessel, from container ship and tanker to cruise ferry and mega yacht, requires a different set of technologies. Quoting potential customers—and generating project documentation in response to their RFPs—is a resource- and time-intensive task. To quote a customer, Kongsberg Maritime is required to generate 50 document types and a total of 2,000 pages. The information is stored in various IT systems not integrated with one another. Before “K-Tools,” the engineer-to-order process took Kongsberg Maritime as much as 2 person-months. For Kongsberg Maritime, ICB developed “K-Tools,” a solution for automatic generation of documentation. The solution connects to Kongsberg Maritime’s ERP system and uses a rule engine to generate documents in various formats (.DOC, .XLS, .PDF, .HTML, .XML, .MDB, and .DWG). The system deploys the generated project documents to a DMS, which handles the workflow process for revision and approval. With K-Tools, Kongsberg Maritime reduced its engineer-to-order process time from 2 person-months to 2 person-days. Project Malware Protection System How do you protect a ship’s critical control systems when they are not allowed to have antivirus programs installed? On a vessel, the antivirus program can create serious issues if it steals critical processing power away during operations. Hence why it is not allowed. So how do you keep a vessel’s control systems safe from malicious software? Kongsberg Maritime chose ICB to help it solve that challenge. With Malware Protection System (MPS), that challenge was solved. MPS is a portable scan engine for network and USB protection against malicious software. The system scans files, using Bit Defender, on a network drive or USB stick—and creates a digital signature on files that were marked safe. Only files with that digital signature can then be recognized by the vessel’s control systems. Meaning that viruses and malicious code, present or not, is kept away from critical control systems equipment. Since completion of the first phase of the project with ICB, Kongsberg Maritime is planning to roll out thousands of MPS-powered portable scanners. Our client: International metal recycling company

The Challenge: The metal processing company has years of experience in the processing and recycling domain and the employees working for the processing plan have gained great expertise. However, the management of the company was looking for a way to automate the work of employees, who are handling the recognition and estimation of different metal compositions in the scrap (raw materials) the factory receives from different suppliers, starting with copper. Copper Scrap Digitalization (2)

The Result: The model was tested by hand for the set of all pictures. We have analyzed the possibility of appurtenance of each picture to every of the other classes. We achieved an average deviation of 0.6 to 0.8 percent, which is extremely good Training Simulator for Electrical Engineers

A support system for engineers when performing server hardware related maintenance tasks by visually guiding them.

It consists of a web portal hosted in Docker and a HoloLens app.

The portal is used to create new devices, define different maintenance scenarios and job executions.

The HoloLens app shows a list of maintenance jobs. After a maintenance job is selected, the HoloLens finds the device in question via computer detection algorithm that uses a deep neural network. Afterwards it guides step by step the system engineer via text, animation and arrows pointing to a specific location in the device. The app differentiates by other similar HoloLens apps with that it is fully offline capable and does not need any network in order to do the object detection. When it is online it synchronizes with the web portal. ASPIRES — Ongoing Horizon 2020 project

Project Details

Customer Kongsberg Digital AS Maritime Kongsberg Digital AS (Kongsberg Digital) utilizes rapid digital advances to provide customers more efficient operations. Together with the rest of Kongsberg Group, it offers solutions within autonomy, smart data, augmented reality and other areas. Our aim is to provide the right information at the right time ensuring information is turned into value. Project Kognifai Platform Kognifai is a developer ecosystem and software platform for information management and decision support applications for the maritime and offshore, subsea, oil and gas, drilling and wells, renewables, and utilities industries. Since 2011, ICB has been working with Kongsberg Maritime on Kongsberg Information Management System (K-IMS), the Kognifai Platform’s predecessor for the merchant marine industry. The platform collects data from a vessel’s systems and sensors, transforms that data into actionable information, and enables users to create their own dashboards, instruments, and subscriptions to events. In 2014, Microsoft wrote a customer story about the Kongsberg Maritime – ICB collaboration. When Kongsberg Digital was founded in 2016 and took ownership of the Kongsberg Kognifai platform, ICB continued working on the platform core and application development framework. ICB is also Kongsberg Digital’s innovation partner for PoCs with the cloud, augmented reality, and other new technologies.

Introducing the “Office of the Future” vision. Autonomous power line inspection technology

Hepta is developing the first turnkey end-to-end inspection technology, which automates the power lines inspections and the following inspection data analysis for large areas.

The solution has a cross-cutting impact and creates clear benefits to the society and economy in general:

• By dramatically lowering the cost of inspection and increasing fault detection, the technology has the potential to reduce the electricity costs for the end consumer by 2-5%.

• Decreases disconnections of electricity flow up to 4 times.

• Excludes technical personnel to detect in hazardous environments (analysis in electric danger zone, after storm analysis) SMART water heater connected to the grid and controllable by the power IoT- enabled Microsoft Azure company cloud connected smart water heater able to optimize the power consumption.

The solution aims to optimize energy consumption through the usage of water heaters as “batteries”. Furthermore it is capable of intelligently detecting states of operation. When not in used for a couple of days the water heater goes to holiday mode. Also people can insert their water consumption habits and the water heater will always have enough hot water for the needs at a given timeslot. How can we collaborate?
