Guide to New South Wales State archives relating to convicts and convict administration Appendices Appendix I: Chronological list of Convict Ships arriving at Port Jackson 1788-1849, and Item list of the various Papers for each vessel The numbering of the vessels is based on that used in Charles Bateson, The Convict Ships, 1787–1868, Library of Australian History, Sydney, 1983. The number without brackets refers to vessels of that name; the number in brackets to the voyages of the vessel such as Hercules II (3) means it was the third voyage to the colony of the second ship called Hercules . Reel *ARK COD PRO Reel [AJCP] available in State Fiche Records' reading rooms 1789 (Wrecked) Guardian Spithead This vessel was wrecked when it Reel 87 H.O.11/1 p.23 struck an iceberg during its voyage to Australia. Twenty convict survivors were brought from the Cape of Good Hope to Port Jackson in June 1790 on the Neptune and the Scarborough . Reel 2 C.0.201/4 p.105 [SZ115] Fiche 620 only contains Reel 87 H.O.11/1 p.15 three names. A contemporary memo in [SZ115] notes that 'This is the only Official List of the Lady Juliana, – the Indents and other Lists are supposed to have been lost or Mislaid in Capt. Collins's Office'. The Mitchell Library holds a copy of a list of the Lady Juliana , prepared by T.D. Samuel Marsden, and his wife Elizabeth. Also on board was a single female convict, Maria Smith, who was Mrs. Marsden's servant. Maria Smith had been tried at the Old Bailey on 12 Sep 1792 and had received a life sentence. She was subsequently pardoned and returned to England [4/4002].
