Microenvironment and extracellular vesicles: mechanism and application in diagnosis and therapeutics

Message from the Guest Editor Guest Editor

Dear Colleagues, Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell-secreted small structures with bilayer membranes. There are a large number of extracellular vesicles in nearly all kinds of body fluids, which is not only a natural target for disease detection but also a novel carrier for drug delivery. However, convenient isolation and quantitative analysis are still technically challenging in EVs studies, which largely limits our understanding and clinical application of EVs. The development of new approaches in EVs isolation and Prof. Dr. Li Min quantitation and their application in disease diagnosis and treatment has Beijing Friendship Hospital, become a very hot topic in both biologists and clinicians. Here we Capital Medical University, established a special issue on Microenvironment and extracellular P.R.China vesicles: mechanism and application in diagnosis and therapeutics. Expertise: Molecular Studies reveal the function of different EV subgroups and apply them to mechanism of precancerous the bedside are especially welcome. and cancerous digestive Potential topics include but are not limited to the following: diseases; Development of • New technologies in isolation and quantitation of EVs or other advanced liquid biopsy microenvironment components and their clinical application technologies for digestive • Roles of different EV subgroups or other microenvironment cancer diagnosis; Mathematical modeling and components in carcinogenesis or other diseases, and related machine learning based on molecular mechanisms clinical data to predict • EV-associated RNA, protein, or lipid biomarker discovery and diagnosis and prognosis mechanism studies • Biogenesis of different EVs in cancer cells and other cells in the [email protected] tumor microenvironment • Tumor microenvironment associated EVs and their application in drug delivery • Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived EVs and their application in drug delivery • Bioengineering or chemical modification on EVs to facilitate drug delivery Prof. Dr. Li Min Guest Editor
