JUNE 2019 3 © The Old Codger 2016 FREE EVERY MONTH The Old Codger Issue 10 Vol 2 THE FLASH - WHERE REAL MUSIC LIVES! The Flash radio station is a not for profit community radio station totally run by vol- unteers, and celebrates the talents of local bands and singer by featuring their music, offering live guest slots, and promoting live gigs in the Portsmouth, Gos- port, Hayling, Waterlooville and Havant ar- eas. I started the station on the Internet back in 2012 because I was fed up with local commercial radio stations that were just playing mainly dance or pop and rotat- ing the same predictable songs as if we all had memories of a goldfish. I also felt that our local music scene included so much more talent than the pop charts offered. The Flash presently broadcasts on DAB to the Portsmouth area, and is available on TUNIN and via our web site - www.theflashonair.co.uk In addition to this we are preparing to launch on FM Community radio service for the Waterlooville area on 104.3FM, and aim to launch this new service this summer. We have a fantastic team of over 40 volun- teers, and our listeners really are amazing and have supported us so well. We are in the process of raising £4000.00 so we can purchase and install the broad- cast equipment we will need, and we hope to start buying some of this gear soon. Anyone wishing to support us can visit our website and click on the link to our ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign ‘THE FLASH FUND FOR FM’ and any donations will be grate- fully received. It is predicted that our FM signal will not only cover Waterlooville, We- cock Farm, and Cowplain, but also Den- mead, Leigh Park, Havant, Hayling Island, and parts of Horndean and Rowlands Cas- tle. However we will know for sure once the test transmissions begin. Happy listening!
