At this point, it seems as if we are going to have to get used to the new zoom-dominated environment for a long time to come. I want to thank the faculty, staff, house officers, and graduate students for all of their efforts to keep teaching and clinical commitments going. I realize this has been an immense effort, and I am grateful for everyone’s team spirit. Hopefully, we can all learn new teaching techniques that will become a part of how we approach students in the future. I have realized more than ever what a remarkable department DoCS is, and I am proud to have been selected to lead us forward.

I want to particularly thank Lizette for all of her guidance over the transition. Fortunately for all of us, she will remain at NC State, and will continue on as co-Assistant Department Head (with Greg Lewbart) within the MSM group. I am in the process of moving into the Department office, so if you are in the CVM, please feel free to drop by for an impromptu socially-distanced meeting!

Best wishes to everyone as new challenges approach in the upcoming Fall semester
