Jim Rotondi Trumpeter Jim Rotondi Began His Musical Studies at a Very Early Age
Jim Rotondi Trumpeter Jim Rotondi began his musical studies at a very early age. His mother, a piano teacher, encouraged Jim to begin playing the piano at age eight. He took up the trumpet at age twelve. In 1980 Jim graduated from Butte High School in Butte, Montana. He then attended North Texas State University, where he graduated with a degree in trumpet performance. While in Texas, Jim was awarded first place in the International Trumpet Guild's jazz trumpet competition for the year 1984. After college Jim began recording and touring internationally with the Ray Charles Orchestra. Immediately following this he commenced a six year tenure with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra. During this time Jim also became a member of organist Charles Earland's quintet. He currently tours with his own group, as well as with the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band and Grammy-winner Toshiko Akiyoshi and the collective known as One For All, which features a front line of Eric Alexander and Steve Davis. Jim's extensive recording experience most recently includes the release of his fifth date as a leader, titled "Destination Up", for the Sharp Nine label following the successful release of four CDs on the Criss Cross Jazz label. He can also be heard on several of Charles Earland's Highnote Records releases, alongside saxophonist Eric Alexander, with whom Jim made his recording debut on Eric's Delmark release "Straight Up". Other recordings include saxophonist George Coleman's Octet, featuring Harold Mabern, as well as drummer Ray Appleton's Sextet, which features Slide Hampton, Charles McPherson, and John Hicks. -

Biography Joris Teepe (updated 2017) Joris Teepe Bassist, Band Leader, Recording Artist, Composer, Producer, Educator Dutch born Joris Teepe graduated in 1991 from the Amsterdam Conservatory in The Netherlands and moved shortly thereafter to New York. He has been traveling between New York and Amsterdam ever since although New York has been his main home. Recently (since 2013) he has an additional residence in Amsterdam. Arriving in New York in 1992 with just his bass and a suitcase, he quickly became a bassist in great demand. He has been working with the "who is who in Jazz" such as Benny Golson, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Randy Brecker & Barry Harris, but is mostly known for his 9 year stint with the Rashied Ali Quintet (2000- 2009). Joris Teepe established himself not only as a sideman but has gained respect as a bandleader (14 CD’s), composer, record producer and educator. Teepe leads his own groups and his own New York Big Band that plays only his original music. Noteworthy is that he composed several large symphonic works (for Jazz Band and full symphony orchestra). Teepe is director of Jazz Studies in Groningen, one of the biggest universities in the Netherlands and he is Bass Professor at Queens College in New York. Jamie Breiwick Quartet Jamie Breiwick Trumpet Mark Davis Piano John Price Bass Devin Drobka Drums Jamie Breiwick: A life-long native of South-Eastern Wisconsin, Jamie is an active trumpet player, composer, and educator. He has performed with such notable jazz artists as Arturo O’ Farrill, Adonis Rose, Ralph Bowen, Matt Wilson, Dan Nimmer, Joe Sanders, Matt Ulery, Francios Moutin, Pete Zimmer, Adam Larson, Rick Germanson, David Hazeltine, and David Bixler. Jamie has performed with Grammy nominated R & B artist Eric Benet, and was featured live in his recent music videos, “The Hunger” & “You’re the Only One”. He has also performed with the Barcelona-based band Brazzaville led by David Brown (Beck), and comedian Bob Newhart. In 2005, Jamie was the featured artist on the nationally-syndicated NPR show “Says You!”. Jamie’s current projects include Dreamland (The Music of Thelonious Monk), and the Lesser Lakes Trio (with John Christensen and Devin Drobka). In 2003, Jamie recorded his first album as a leader “Song to a Rose”, featuring then 19-year-old bass phenom Joe Sanders. The recording featured several original compositions, as well as Freddie Hubbard’s classic “Gittin’ Down”, Sam Rivers’ “Beatrice, and the beautiful Jule Styne ballad, “I Fall in Love Too Easily”. Finally released in 2006, the recording was chosen by jazzreview.com’s Paul J. Youngman as a top-ten release of 2007. In late 2011, Jamie recorded and released his second studio recording, “Serenity”, a duo with the Boston-based pianist Barry Velleman. The 13-track “standards” release was recorded in one three-hour session.
