DAILY ROUTINE The day begins at 9.30 am with a mass prayer reciting the hymn ‘Daivadasakom’ by Sree Narayana Guru, followed by the ‘Thought for the week Programme’ The classes will end at 4.30 pm with the National Anthem. ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES As usual, our college was able to maintain good results in the university examinations with 10 distinctions and all others with first classes except three. The top scorer award - Sri.R.Sankar Memorial Gold medal was shared by saranya chandran and Archa Vijayan of Natural science and physical science optional respectively. A cash prize of Rs.1000/ was given to the top scorers of each optional by PTA. The following are the students who secured highest mark in each subject. Other Achievements Our students kum.Sreelekshmi.S and kum.Sahithya Unnithan in Physical science optional got first prize in the paper presentation in a seminar held at Peet memorial Training college, Mavelikkara. The School Initiation programme & Teaching practice. From the year 2015 onwards as per the revised norms of NCTE, for improving the quality of Teacher Education, the duration of B.Ed course was extended to two years and the students’ strength was reduced from 150 to 50.In our college this year students’ strength was raised from to 50 from 100 by the government. This academic year commenced on 1st june & the classes for juniors started on 13 nth july 2016 and has a total of 142 students on rolls. The school Initiation programme was conducted for juniors from 16/01/2017 to 20/01/2017.Teaching practice was conducted for seniors from 29th july to 30th august 2016 and the internship programme for seniors from 09/11/2016 to 31/01/2017. The school Initiation programme & Teaching practice was conducted in 10 schools in the locality.

EXAMINATIONS The periodical test papers , practicums and other practicals related to teaching constituted the important part of examinations in accordance with the new curriculum. The university examinations for seniors was conducted from dec 14 nth to 20th 2016 and for juniors from dec 15 nth 2016 to January 3rd 2017 .The practical examination of the senior batch was conducted on 14 th & 15 th february 2017 and the project viva on 14 th & 15 th march2017.

Dr.Sindhya.S.( Asst.prof in General Education) was nominated as the Staff advisor to the College Union for the year. After that Smt.Sangeetha.N.R was nominated as the Staff advisor to the College Union for the year. The formal inauguration of the college union was held on 6th January 2017. Shri.Joy M.LA. and Dr.Vasantha kumar Sambasivan Rtd prof S,N college ,kollam) and Sri. Praveen Chandra (Member, Panchayath) were the chief guests. All students were grouped into three houses Raagam,layam and Thalam. Housewise competitions started soon after the self introduction of students. House captains co-ordinated their programmes in a healthy way .In this connection the college union had a central stay and active involvement in all club activities ,seminars, sports and arts activities, festivals and other celebrations. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES The co-curricular activities of the college are worth mentioning. We had colourful celebrations on all national days like Republic day, Independence day, Gandhijayanthi, Teacher’s day and festivals like , X-mas 7 etc. during x’mas celebration students donated money for purchasing books and some learning materials to poor students instead of gift exchange programme among students. Death anniversary of Sri.R.Sankar was observed on Nov 7th in a befitting manner. CULTURAL ACTIVITIES The arts club of the college did excellent performance this year also. The Arts fest was conducted in a colourfulway on 2 nd & 3 rd march 2017. Kum. Geethu of English Optional won the Kalathilakam stature.

PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION Activities related to sports and games and physical exercises were spread over the whole year. The world yoga day was celebrated in a colourful manner on 21 st june 2016.A rifle shooting training was given to student teachers by Shri.Vimalkumar. An India-Southafrica friendly cricket match between students of our college, S.N.College Varkala and students of HELPMEKAAR KOLLEGE JohannesBurg,South Africa was organized by our physical Education department on 15 nth December 2016. Sri.Amjith, Asst.prof in Physical Education has offered dynamic leadership for all these activities.

EXCURSIONS AND PICNICS All six optional classes conducted field trips to various places during I & II semester. In English optional Students conducted a tour to Veli,shangummugham ,vettucad ,papanasam,vizhijam&. Social Scienceconducted tour to anjengo fort,light house,perumathura azhi, kappil beach, kuttanadu and ,madhura meenakshi temple,Rameswaram,pampan bridge,abdulkalam smarakom,solar observatory,guna caves,pine forest,jain temple,refuge camp,suicide pointlake,rajanikanthi house a placeof jellikkettu.. and sankar cement factory. . 8

Malayalam students conducted field trip to , Vallathol musceum at shornur. Nadakasala ,kochi binnalae,kavithaude karnivel at govt sanskrit college at pattambi .Natural science optional conducted a field trip to kuttalam,thenmala, kappil beach,hatchery & marine aquarium at varkala and maths optional to kuthiramalika and veli at tvm,,vizhinjam & kovalam and maths optional to ,kallar ,peppara dam ,papanasam,kuthirmalka,veli & vizhinjam.Physical science optional to vssc,veli vizhinjam , kovalam, ponmudi,kallar and peppara dam.

Community Living Camp A Community Living Camp was organized for snior students five days from. 5th Monday to 9 nth Friday September 2016. Theme Selected for the Camp was ‘Agriculture’. Programme was officially inaugurated by Honorable Deputy Speaker of Kerala, Sri.V. Sasi and the keynoteaddress was delivered by Sri.Aji S.R.M. (Executive Member, S.N.Trusts) Various activities includingan interesting personality training session by Shri. Brahma NayakamMahadevan , Special Educator &Trainer, Community AwarenessProgramme atAnchuthengu Grama Panchayathu bytraineesvisittoSivagiriBrahmavidyalayam , Gurukulam and BlindSchool, papanasam cleaning,presentation of Folk songs of Kerala bySri. AjithAttingal, were organized. Our students donated a printer to the blind school. Sri.Subair a well known farmer have taken an awareness class on ‘farming’.Students planted pea saplings in 60 grow bags we have got nearly 50 kgs of pea from it.The camp was really successful in promoting the democratic nature and involvement of the student-teacher in planning and implementing educational activities. 9

CLUB ACTIVITIES

SREE NARAYANA STUDY CENTRE The club started its activities with the explanation of ‘Daivadasakom’ by Sri.Praveen.R.Lecturer in Malayalam.The students were deeply inspired by the theme and practice the same as group prayer in the morning .Our students visited Sivagiri Mutt. An Extempore speech on Guru’s quotes was conducted . The students from English department presented important Guru’s quotes in the display board for whole class. An expert talk on applications of Guru views to solve daily life problems by Dr. K.S. Anitha , Former Principal, Sree Narayana Training College, Nedunganda was organized . Dr.Rany.S. coordinated these activities in an effective manner.

GANDHI STUDY CENTRE Gandhi study centre is one of the clubs which functions in our college since 1992. The main aim of the Unit is to spread the views and values of Gandhiji in one’s own life. On 3rd October ‘Gandhi Jayanthi’ was celebrated with Bhajan, campus cleaning, and a tableau based on Gandhian concepts by all optional subjects. On January 30, Martyr’s Day the unit organized a seminar on Gandhian Principles and values. Ms. Rinju Sudasanan from Physical Science optional welcomed the audience and Ms. Geethu G. (English), Mr. Muhammed Nishad (Mathematics) and Mr. Unni M. (Social Science) delivered talks on satyagraha, non-violence and non-cooperation respectively. It is followed by a power point presentation on life history of Gandhiji by Sharon K Arif from Natural Science optional. Smt.Sangeetha N.R., Asst. Professor in General Education coordinated all the programs. 10

WOMEN’S STUDY UNIT The women’s club is working very actively in the college under the guidance of Dr. Sheeba P.The first and the most important endeavour of womens’ club in this year was the International Women’s day was celebration. A speech related to the significance of Women’s day celebration, a poem, skit, Mime and flashmob by different departments, powerpoint presentation and a documentary presentation etc were conducted as a part of the International Women’s day was celebration.

LITERARY CLUB Literary Club of the College is mainly functioning with an objective to provide various avenues for the students to identify and polish their potential in creative literary works. The activities of the Literary Club were successfully held under the systematic leadership of Dr. Reetha ravi, Assistant Professor in English dept. The major programmes organized were daily word presentation and a Kaviyarangu on feb 8th 2017.Ananthalekshmi,Ratheesh,& Ancy from Malayalam optional, Sharon from natural science, Reshma from maths& Febina from English optional recited poems in the kaviyarangu and all these programmes provided opportunities to our students in exploring their creative expressions and were beneficial for them in expanding the horizon of aesthetic values.

IT CLUB

IT Club of Sree Narayana Training College functioned very actively throughout the academic year. The club organized a variety of activities for the student teachers. The programmes were well planned and coordinated by all the members of the club. 11

On 29/09/16 the club conducted a skit based on Cyber issues. The presentation of important IT related news was also performed. A set of e-contents was released and published. On 23/03/2017 the club organised an extempore speech based on ICT. The programmes of the club were successfully co-ordinated by the Staff-coordinator Smt. Chitra S. along with the student co- ordinator Smt. Salini S. V. from Natural Science and other members of IT Club. SOORYA KANTHI NATURE CLUB A live nature club is functioning in this college for the last few years under the leadership of Sri.Praveen.R, Asst.Prof in Malayalam. There were 30 members in the club. some of the important programmes conduted by the nature club were the following.

 Celebrated Hiroshima day in a colourful manner.  Training was given to all members of the club for preparing paper bags  conducted 8 awareness classes on different topics on nature protection by sri.Praveen.R and club members.  On world environment day a number of programmes were organized by the club members The club members planted saplings in the campus and on road sides.  During teaching practice student teachers prepared environmental protection hand books and supplied to school students.  Supplied saplings to students in chrunniyoor H.S.S.  The Nature club members cleaned the campus every day during the noon interval period and they made the campus plastic free. They have implemented the waste disposal process in our college in an effective way. 12

 The Nature club members collected plastic pen from all classes for recycling process.  The Club members distributed chayamanza saplings to the student teachers. CAREER GUIDANCE CLUB The activities of the Club during the academic year commenced with a formal inauguration on 06-01-2016 by the Principal Dr. K. Ushakumari at the college auditorium. The Club organized several inspiring and educative programmes. Club offers vocational guidance and job assurance activities. Weekly G K Programme was highly beneficial for our students in equipping them in order to meet Competitive Examinations through opening an avenue for their vast reading. The winners were awarded with prizes every week as an encouragement. Programme of ‘Opportunities’ of displaying and informing career news helped our students in their search of job opportunities in becoming vigilant and alert over the career field. ‘The Extempore Speech’ organized for Second year students and the ‘Just a minute programme’ organized for the First Year students by the Club really served as a platform for expressing their views on a general social issue and for enriching their public speaking skill.‘Seminar on Exam Orientation’ helped in reducing exam anxiety and provided guidance to the students regarding the necessity of proper planning, preparing and managing time for examinations. Subscription of ‘Thozilvartha’ was very much beneficial to the students. An ‘Inter Optional Quiz Competition’ was conducted by the club with an objective of enhancing the General Knowledge of students. The Club continuously serves as a Placement agent to our students by providing proper vocational awareness and conscientation activities on present educational situations. For the same purpose the Club organized a SET, K- 13

TET, C-TET orientation Seminar with the help of Sri. Dibeesh Babu, Director, Florenze Academy, Attingal. The activities of the Club were successfully conducted under the excellent coordination of the Staff Coordinator Dr. Smitha S., Assistant Professor and with the innovative ideas of all its members, especially the student coordinator Ms.Sahitya S. Unnithan of Physical Science Optional and student representatives from each Optional class.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR. A toilet block with modern facilities from MLA fund worth Rs.6 lakhs was constructed and opened to lady students of this college by our hon. Deputy speaker sri.SASI MLA by 9nth September 1016. A SolarGrid connected PowerPlant of 5 KW funded by UGC was installed in the college.The inaugration of this will be done by our chief guest Sri. Aji.SRM after my report presentation. I am proud to say that today onwards our college,sree Narayana Training college is self sufficient in our electricity requirement forever.No more current charge is needed.Through solar power plant 21units of elecrtricity will be generated every day. Our Physical science teacher Dr. Divya.C.Senan got fullbright scholarship to do post doctoral research in USA

UGC/ ICSSR PROJECTS (1) ICSSR sponsored Projects. Dr.Smitha.S, Assistant Professor in General Education was awarded with a Major Project of Rs. 18,00,000/- sponsored by ICSSR for the study ‘Popularization 14 of Indian Intellectual traditions of Vedic Mathematics among multilevel learners of Kerala’ and the work is completed and submitted. . SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS A workshop on film production & direction ‘UNMEELANAM’ was conducted on 29 nth 30th September 2016 by the college union and the film club. Three documentary films and fiveshort films were shown and discussed. The famous film director Sri.M.G.Sasi directed the discussions.Another work shop on technology & enviornment was conducted on 15nth june 2016 . The resource person was Sri.SUJITH.One more workshop was conducted on memory techniques by a well known memory trainer sri.Rajesh Maheswar.

UGC AND OTHER GRANTS RECEIVED An amount of Rs.40 lakhs was sanctioned by UGC for construction of a women,s hostel . Another 6 lakhs was allotted under GDA for various developmental purposes and fully utilized.
