The military helicopter segment has been impacted significantly by continued defense budgetary pressures across most traditional markets, and a recent slide in global crude oil prices has impacted the demand for new civil helicopters as well as the level of activity for existing fleets engaged in the offshore oil & gas exploration sector. This situation has impacted industry OEMs significantly, many of which had been working towards strengthening the civil helicopter segment to partially offset the impact of budgetary cuts on the military segment. However, the medium- to long-term view of the market is promising given the presence of strong fundamentals and persistent, sustainable growth drivers. The market for military helicopters in particular is set to cross a technological threshold in the form of next-generation compound helicopters and tilt rotorcraft. -

Here are their views. Todd Carlson Parrish Kelley hen we were children, my brothers – Blair and Rand ometime around 1990, I went with my father, Bartram – and I were always aware of the presence in our Kelley, to the Bell Helicopter Textron plant in Hurst, Wfamily of the Bell helicopter, specifically the Model STexas, to look for the original 16 mm movies he and 47 and its predecessor, the Model 30. CANADA'S AIR WAR 1945 updated 21/04/08 January 1945 424 Sqn. and 433 Sqn. begin to re-equip with Lancaster B.I & B.III aircraft (RCAF Sqns.). 443 Sqn. begins to re-equip with Spitfire XIV and XIVe aircraft (RCAF Sqns.). Helicopter Training School established in England on Sikorsky Hoverfly I helicopters. One of these aircraft is transferred to the RCAF. An additional 16 PLUTO fuel pipelines are laid under the English Channel to points in France (Oxford). Japanese airstrip at Sandakan, Borneo, is put out of action by Allied bombing. Built with forced labour by some 3,600 Indonesian civilians and 2,400 Australian and British PoWs captured at Singapore (of which only some 1,900 were still alive at this time). It is decided to abandon the airfield. Between January and March the prisoners are force marched in groups to a new location 160 miles away, but most cannot complete the journey due to disease and malnutrition, and are killed by their guards. Only 6 Australian servicemen are found alive from this group at the end of the war, having escaped from the column, and only 3 of these survived to testify against their guards. All the remaining enlisted RAF prisoners of 205 Sqn., captured at Singapore and Indonesia, died in these death marches (Jardine, wikipedia). On the Russian front Soviet and Allied air forces (French, Czechoslovakian, Polish, etc, units flying under Soviet command) on their front with Germany total over 16,000 fighters, bombers, dive bombers and ground attack aircraft (Passingham & Klepacki). Description: DESCRIPTION: The Bell 47™ is a two-bladed, single engine, light helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter. The Bell 47 became the first helicopter certified for civilian use on March 8 1946. The bell G 2 uses the 47GLycoming O-435 / 190HP as the H-13 is 195HP. The Bell 47 helicopter entered U.S. military service in late 1946 and was designated the H-13 Sioux by the United States Army. It has also served as the helicopter of choice for basic helicopter flight instruction in many countries. NASA had a number of Bell 47s during the Apollo program, used by astronauts as trainers for the Lunar Lander. This package includes the Sioux H-13 or known from the television show MASH (Mobil Army Surgery Hospital) and the Bell 47G with skids, floats and a crop duster model. Each model is around 160,000 poly's with high quality real world photos. From the moment you crank over the engine the first time, the Hobbs hours counter will start tracking your running engine until you remove the aircraft from your game. It includes first-hand accounts of the formation of the Society, how it matured and evolved, and the particular influences that compelled change. It describes key events which occurred during various stages of the Society’s growth, including the formation of its technical committees, the evolution of the AHS Annual Forum and technical specialists’ meetings, and the creation and evolution of the Society’s publications. Featured prominently are accounts of AHS’s role in pursuing a combined government, industry and academia approach to rotorcraft science and technology. Also featured is the creation in 1965 of the Army-NASA Agreement for Joint Participation in Aeronautics Technology, the establishment of the U.S. Army Rotorcraft Centers of Excellence, the National Rotorcraft Technology Center (NRTC), the inauguration of the Congressional Rotorcraft Caucus and its support for the U.S. defense industrial base for rotorcraft, the battle for the survival of NASA aeronautics and critical NASA subsonic ground test facilities, and the launching of the International Helicopter Safety Team (IHST). The commission was chaired by Patrick Fauchère, of Airs Glaciers. The Air-Rescue Sub-commission met with members representing 19 countries. They were Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United States of America. FIELD DAY A Field day was organized at the Air Zermatt helicopter base. Static displays were on sight with rescue equipment used by the local rescue team. In addition, Eurocopter brought in an EC145 demonstrator. Pilots on the air rescue commission were given the opportunity to fly the aircraft. 1 ACCIDENTS & INCIDENT REVIEWS FROM MEMBER COUNTRIES: Switzerland-Entanglement-Patrick Fauchère This accident took place on the Pointe Dufour in the Mont Rose massif. A mountain guide had requested rescue for an exhausted client unable to continue. The guide was anchored to a block. Both clients in succession were tied a few metres below him. The lowest client was also anchored to a block. A rescuer was lowered from a Lama onto the ridge to evacuate the client between the guide and the other client. When the rescuer and victim were about to get hoisted, the guide noticed his rope laying over one of the packs hanging from the rescue load. -

Threat Tactics Report Compendium, Vol 2 Introduction TRADOC G-2 ACE Threats Integration (ACE-TI) is the source of the Threat Tactics Report (TTR) series of products. TTRs serve to explain to the Army training community how an actor fights. Elements that contribute to this understanding may include an actor’s doctrine, force structure, weapons and equipment, education, and warfighting functions. An explanation of an actor’s tactics and techniques is provided in detail along with recent examples of tactical actions, if they exist. An actor may be regular or irregular, and a TTR will have a discussion of what a particular actor’s capabilities mean to the US and its allies. An important element of any TTR is the comparison of the real-world tactics to threat doctrinal concepts and terminology. A TTR will also identify where the conditions specific to the actor are present in the Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) and other training materials so that these conditions can easily be implemented across all training venues.
