Among them 8 species are new for the Kampinos National Park. The occurrence of 8 species previously mentioned in literature was confirmed. Only Anisoxya fuscula, although known from literature, was not confirmed. One species: Phloiotrya subtilis have been recorded from the Mazovian Lowland for the first time. A current knowledge is most probably not exhaustive and further research could enrich the list. INTRODUCTION Melandryidae is a worldwide beetle family which includes 60 genera and 420 species (Konvička 2016). According to Kubisz & al. (2014) only 27 species occur in Poland, however ( Received 16 August 2018; Accepted 01 September 2018; Date of Publication 02 September 2018 ) World Scientific News 109 (2018) 103-114 authors incorrectly excluded Phloiotrya subtilis from Polish fauna. Most of Melandyidae representatives are xylomycetophagous and saproxylic strongly related with various trees and fungi species (Kubisz & al. 2014, Konvička 2016). As of yet only 9 species of Melandryidae have been found in Kampinos National Park: Abdera affinis, A. flexuosa, Anisoxia fuscula, Hypulus bifasciatus, Orchesia fasciata, O. undulata, O. micans, Xylita laevigata and Zilora obscura (Burakowski 2004, Kubisz & al. 2000, 2010, 2014, Marczak 2010, Sawoniewicz 2013). The aim of this study was to supplement the information related with occurrence of representatives of the mentioned family in Kampinos National Park. 2. MATERIAL AND METHODS The material was gathered by Dawid Marczak and Jakub Masiarz, the identification of species was performed by Dawid Marczak and Radosław Mroczyński. Proof specimens can be found in the authors’ and Kampinos National Park’s collections. The following abbreviations were used in the text: FSU – forest spatial unit, SPA – Strict Protection Area, KNP – Kampinos National Park, IBL-2 trap – window trap, IBL-5 trap – barrier trap. IBL-2 traps were hung between trees or in spaces between large numbers of fallen dead trees, while IBL-5 traps were hung on dead trees. Each location was additionally described, in brackets, with the code of the relevant UTM square. Species new to the Mazovian Lowland were marked with an asterisk [*]. Names were attributed according to Nikitsky & Pollock 2008. The presented results were obtained thanks to the financial support of the Polish State Forests’ “Forest Fund” as part of the following research projects: “The evaluation of the degree of naturalness of pine forests in Kampinos National Park based on the fauna of saproxylic beetles” which was performed in the year 2014, “The evaluation of the degree of naturalness of oak-hornbeam forests in Kampinos National Park based on the fauna of saproxylic beetles” (2015), “The evaluation of the degree of naturalness of chosen tree stands in Kampinos National Park based on the fauna of saproxylic beetles – stage III alder forests” (2016) and “The evaluation of the degree of naturalness of chosen tree stands in Kampinos National Park based on the fauna of saproxylic beetles – stage IV wet deciduous forest” (2017). 3. RESULTS – REVIEW OF THE SPECIES 3.1. Melandryinae LEACH, 1815 3.1.1. This species is rarely collected, with most records coming from southern Poland (Kubisz & al. 2010). Xylomycetophagous species which development take place among others in Inonotus obliquus (Pers: Fr.) Pilát, Inonotus radiatus (J. Sowerby: Fr.) P. Karst., Phellinus igniarius (L.: Fr.) Quél., Trametes pubescens (Schumach.: Fr.) Pilát (Nikitsky & Schigel 2004). 3.1.2. A rather common species but in most cases only single individuals have been collected in dispersed localities (Kubisz & al. 2010). Known from all central European countries, however recently reported from Switzerland (Sanchez & al. 2015). Xylomycetophagous species which development take place among others in Inonotus radiatus (J. Sowerby: Fr.) P. Karst. (Nikitsky & Schigel 2004). 3.1.3. Anisoxya fuscula (Illiger, 1798) Literature data: SPA Nart (DC69), Dziekanów Leśny (DC89), SPA Sieraków (DC89) – Burakowski 2004. Very rare saproxylic species. Reported from Kampinos National Park only by Burakowski in the middle of 20th century (Burakowski 2004). Recent studies did not confirmed occurrence of this species, however because of its hidden lifestyle it could be very difficult to found. Listed in the Polish Red Data Book of Endangered Species under the DD category – data deficient (Pawłowski & al. 2002). -105- World Scientific News 109 (2018) 103-114 3.1.4. Relatively rare saproxylic species, with most records coming from southern Poland (Kubisz & al. 2010). Known from all central European countries, however recently reported from Hungary (Konvička & Merkl 2015). New to KNP. 3.1.5. Marczak) -106- World Scientific News 109 (2018) 103-114 Species has been excluded from Polish fauna (Kubisz & al. 2014), despite that he was reported from Białowieża Forest (Borowski 2001) and Subcarpathian Region (Plewa & al. 2014) in 21th century. Its occurrence in Kampinos National Park, Białowieża Forest and recent finding in the vicinity of Wielopole Skrzyżyńskie (Subcarpathian Region) (Plewa & al. 2014) is denoting that this species should be included as a part of Polish fauna. Extremely rare saproxylic species, which is being found in individual specimens. New to the Mazovian Lowland and KNP. 3.1.6. Wanachia triguttata (Gyllenhal, 1810) SPA Kaliszki (DD80), FSU 24, 1-31.05.2014, 4 exx, 1-30.06.2014, 3 exx, collected by IBL-5 trap hanging on a pine in Querco roboris-Pinetum habitat. Rather rare saproxylic species, sporadically observed in disperse localities all over Poland (Kubisz & al. 2010). New to KNP. 3.1.7. The confusion regarding the identity of the species is fixed based on the revised type material. Here, the species are redescribed, and diagnostic characters are provided. Mordellistena pseudorhenana is revalidated. Mordellistena emeryi Schilsky, 1895 is recognised as a new synonym of M. minima. Mordellistena sajoi Ermisch, 1977 is recognised as a new synonym of M. pseudorhenana. Lectotype and paralectotypes of M. emeryi are designated. Mordellistena pseudorhenana is reported for the first time from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Switzerland. Two morphotypes of M. pseudorhenana differing in size and shape of the parameres are recognised. Morphological differences are quantified and displayed using principal component analysis. In addition, DNA barcodes have been used for the first time in family Mordellidae to examine the divergences between the species and to interpret the morphological variability observed in M.

Among them 8 species are new for the Kampinos National Park. The occurrence of 8 species previously mentioned in literature was confirmed. Only Anisoxya fuscula, although known from literature, was not confirmed. One species: Phloiotrya subtilis have been recorded from the Mazovian Lowland for the first time. A current knowledge is most probably not exhaustive and further research could enrich the list. INTRODUCTION Melandryidae is a worldwide beetle family which includes 60 genera and 420 species (Konvička 2016). According to Kubisz & al. It is known from Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Moldavia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine (Nikitsky & Pollock 2008). It was recently recorded by Konvička (2012) from Greece. Larvae of Phloiotrya rufi pes live in rotten wood (Nikitsky & Pollock 2010). Entomol. 35(4): 964Ð975 (2006) ABSTRACT Beetle biodiversity, particularly of leaf litter fauna, in the Sierran mixed-conifer eco- system is poorly understood. This is a critical gap in our knowledge of this important group in one of the most heavily managed forest ecosystems in California. We used pitfall trapping to sample the litter beetles in a forest with a history of diverse management. We identiÞed 287 species of beetles from our samples. Rarefaction curves and nonparametric richness extrapolations indicated that, despite intensive sampling, we undersampled total beetle richness by 32Ð63 species. We calculated alpha and beta diversity at two scales within our study area and found high heterogeneity between beetle assemblages at small spatial scales. A nonmetric multidimensional scaling ordination revealed a community that was not predictably structured and that showed only weak correlations with our measured habitat variables. These data show that Sierran mixed conifer forests harbor a diverse litter beetle fauna that is heterogeneous across small spatial scales. Managers should consider the impacts that forestry practices may have on this diverse leaf litter fauna and carefully consider results from experimental studies before applying stand-level treatments. They belong to 82 families in two suborders, Adephaga and Polyphaga. The New Zealand beetle fauna is distinguished by the absence of many major lineages, a high level of endem- ism. which in many groups is over 90% at the specific level and over 43% at the generic level (e.g.. Staphylinidae), and the radiation of many groups of genera and species. The origins of New Zealand's beetle fauna are still poorly understood. They are likely to be varied, includ- ing Gondwanan elements and elements which arrived here by short and long-distance dispersal recently and in the remote past.
