We want to update everyone on our sponsorship journey. Our application is at the embassy in Jordan being processed. We have no timeline on the arrival of the family. We will update you as things evolve. We want to thank everyone who generously donated as well as those who continue to honor their pledges. We are still accepting donations as we will have many unexpected expenses, for example furnishing a house for eleven people. Again many thanks until the next update.

O God, who see how your people faithfully await the feast of the Lord's Nativity, enable us, we pray, to attain the joys of so great a salvation and to celebrate them always with solemn worship and glad rejoicing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Joy Candle

The third week of Advent we remember the gift of Joy we have in Christ. We remember the joy that Mary felt when the angel told her that a special child would be born to her - a child who would save and deliver all people. Joy is the gift we all receive from the unconditional love Christ has for us. God wants us all to have joy. The angel who announced to the shepherds that Jesus had been born told them: "Do not be afraid. I am bringing you good news of great joy for all people - for to you is born this day, in the City of David, a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord." As we light this candle, we remember that Christ came to bring true and everlasting joy to all people Let us pray - Loving God, we thank you for the joy you bring us. Help us prepare our hearts for the Lord’s coming by helping us see that Christ came for every person we meet wherever we go.

We ask this in the name of the one born in Bethlehem, Jesus our Lord. Amen

“The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and said, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High."
