Students should know that these actions result in extreme consequences, such as a police investigation, suspension, and possible expulsion. Students frequently misuse the word; so what happens when a student cries ‘bully,’ but no one believes them? Recently, a poll was taken about whether or not students believe that the word ‘bully’ is misused and said too much. Personally, I surveyed a mix of 81 people, both students and teachers. I assumed the majority of the people would have said ‘no,’ judging by how many students use it. However, to my surprise, 76% said ‘yes,’ and only 24% said ‘no.’ Based on the statistics of the pie chart, a majority of the surveyed individuals believe that the word is misused.
