Government appointed 3 part time non-official directors on Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) Central Board for four years Ashok Gulati, Manish Sabharwal and Rajiv Kumar. Besides, Prasanna Kumar Mohanty (Southern), Sunil Mitra (Eastern) and Vallabh Roopchand Bhanshali (West) are appointed on Local RBI Boards. 2. Government appointed 8 Executive Directors in various Public Sector Banks, on Recommendations of Bank Board Bureau Neelam Damodaran and Atanu Kumar Das - Bank of India. Ajay Tyagi appointed as new chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), replacing U K Sinha. He will initially serve for 3 years. 6. Sunil Mehta has been appointed as Non Executive Chairman in Punjab National Bank. 7. T C A Ranganathan appointed as Non - Official Director of Indian Overseas Bank . March 1. Nageswara Rao gave the verdict after a panel of seven doctors from KEM Hospital, Mumbai declared that the skull and brain tissue development of the foetus were absent and there was no chance of the foetus surviving outside the uterus. iii. Abortion is legal in India only up to 20 weeks of pregnancy under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 that too if it involves a risk to the life of the pregnant woman physically or mentally or involves a substantial risk to the health of the child. iv. The Union Cabinet approved an agreement signed among BRICS nations for cooperation in the social and labour sphere. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its approval for the Memorandum of Understanding among India, Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa, regarding cooperation in the social and labour sphere. India and the United Kingdom will collaborate on research on different aspects of the Ganga delta region and the Bay of Bengal.
