It is a great honor for us to be chairing the 25th Côtes 2012 Sandy & David Alexander du Coeur gala where we will honor this event’s past, present and future on behalf 2011 John L. Adams of the American Heart Association. Our extended DFW family is why we’re so committed to the AHA’s 2009-2010 Tim Wallace strategic goal to improve U.S. cardiovascular health by 20% while reducing cardiovascular 2008 Lauren & Lance Byrd deaths 20% by 2020. With this in mind, we recently attended the 2015 AHA’s Scientific Sessions (AHA’s annual meeting of more than 18,000 cardiologists 2007 Erin & Scott Olson and researchers from across the country). We were amazed and inspired to learn that surgeons are now using 3-D printers to print patient’s hearts so they can practice on a perfect replica of the 2006 Mary Humphreys Gill & John Gill, M.D. patient’s heart prior to the actual surgery. This is just one example of how your generous Côtes du Coeur contributions fund ground-breaking research that leads directly to 2005 Linda Paulk, Pat & Jim Parker innovative programs and educational tools that help prevent and one day eradicate heart disease entirely. 2004 Toni Brinker Pickens, Don Hultgren, Tonight is the silver anniversary of the most prestigious and successful American Heart Association gala in the nation. We are honored to chair this milestone event and hope you enjoy our retrospective look Sandra Kuprion-Thomas back at the first 25 years of this world class event. Deep gratitude and thanks goes out to each and every past Côtes 2003 Pat Morgan McEvoy du Coeur chairman in attendance tonight for building an incredible legacy for helping people fight and, eventually, win the war on heart disease and stroke. We are excited to honor Côtes du Coeur leadership as we look forward to a future free of cardiovascular 2002 Sandra Kuprion-Thomas disease. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, this remarkable annual gathering has raised more than $27million on behalf of the American Heart Association. Your support this evening helps to continue that proud legacy, which is so critical to our efforts to impact the lives of those who face cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The ongoing success of Côtes du Coeur is a reflection of the incredible generosity and dedication of so many people in the Dallas community – like you – who care deeply about making a positive difference. Your concern for saving and improving the lives of others is an inspiration to all of us at the American Heart Association. I would like to give special recognition to our 2016 Côtes du Coeur Chairs, Melissa & Steve Grimshaw, and to our entire Executive Committee, for planning an outstanding program. Tonight, led by Richard Chamberlain, we are honored to be joined by 18 celebrity chefs whose culinary masterpieces will be paired with selections from 26 world- renowned wineries, including our Tête du Cuvée Honoree, Ehlers Estate.
