The Sugar Bears were picked just ahead of UTSA and Texas State. Meanwhile, the *- Southland Conference match league sports information directors tabbed UCA in a tie for second with Texas State and just behind UTSA. 2011 Southland Conference Standings East Division • Marissa Collins is the first player in league history to earn Southland Freshman of the Year Central Arkansas 8-6 .571 14-14 .500 and Setter of the Year awards in the same season. Collins ranked 15th in the nation and Lamar 8-6 .571 10-19 .345 led the Southland with 11.54 assists per set in 2010. Collins has moved into fourth all-time on Nicholls State 5-9 .357 18-12 .600 UCA’s career assists list with 2,357. Her 1,419 assists in 2010 were the second most assists in a McNeese State 5-9 .357 10-18 .357 single season for UCA. This season, Collins is averaging 10.0 assists per set. In two consecutive Northwestern State 4-10 .286 8-19 .296 matches this season, Collins set a career highs in assists. Collins earned a career-high 60 as- Southeastern La. 1-13 .071 5-26 .161 sists in a 3-1 win over UT Arlington on Oct. 8. The 60 assists came in just four sets for a 15.0 a/s average. She followed that up with 61 assists in a 3-2 victory over McNeese State on Oct. 13. West Division SLC Pct. Overall Pct. • Collins was UCA’s fourth Southland Freshman of the Year in five years. She joined Robyn UTSA 13-1 .929 19-9 .679 Smith (2006), Chloe Smith (2007) and Jessica Hays (2009). Collins is also the third consecutive Texas State 13-1 .929 22-6 .759 Sam Houston State 9-5 .643 15-12 .556 Setter of the Year for the Sugar Bears, with Robyn Smith winning it the previous two seasons. UT Arlington 7-7 .500 11-17 .393 • Senior libero Cristin Curl was named to the All-Southland Conference Second Team in 2010 Stephen F. Austin 6-8 .429 13-16 .448 and was a preseason All-SLC First Team selection in 2011. The Amarillo, Texas native ranked A&M Corpus Christi 5-9 .357 13-18 .419 fifth in league play with 4.65 digs per set in 2010. Curl, 2009’s SLC Libero of the Year, is fourth Southland Conference Schedule on UCA’s career digs list with 1,713. Curl was also named the Southland’s Defensive Player Date Match Time of the Week for the week of Oct. 3.
