An initial taxonomy of 24 themes clustered under five meta-themes of space, lifestyle, emotions, symbolism, and social-political relations is provided, together with some proposals for further research. The interview was conducted at the Institute for the Musical Arts, a Goshen, Massachusetts-based non-profit founded and operated by Millington and her partner, Ann Hackler. The text is based on a transcription by Gracia Brown. This version, which is condensed, edited for clarity, and annotated, was prepared by Gayle Wald. June Millington is co-founder and lead guitarist of the germinal rock-and-roll band Fanny, which formed in Los Angeles in 1969. The other original members of the band were Jean Millington (June’s sister, on bass guitar and drums), Alice de Buhr (drums and vocals), and Nickey Barclay (keyboards and vocals). Fanny recorded four albums with Reprise Records—Fanny (1970), Charity Ball (1971), Fanny Hill (1972), and Mother’s Pride (1973)—and toured widely in the U.S. and internationally. As Ann Powers has recently observed, Fanny, as fronted by June Millington, “was a showcase for the swag- ger of long-haired, bell-bottomed, fierce femmes at the dawn of the women’s liberation 1 movement.” Since the band’s 1973 dissolution, Millington has had a distinguished career working with a wide variety of artists, most notably Cris Williamson, on whose influential 1975 album The Changer and the Changed Millington contributed keyboards, guitar, and vocals.

    English Music Elton John Part 2 In 1967, John answered an ad for a songwriter for Liberty Records. He got the job and soon teamed up with lyricist Bernie Taupin. The duo switched to the DJM label the following year, writing songs for other artists. John got his first break as a singer with his 1969 album Empty Sky, featuring songs by John and Taupin. While that recording failed to catch on, his 1970 self-titled effort featured John’s first hit “Your Song.” More hits soon followed, including such number- one smashes as “Crocodile Rock,” “Bennie and the Jets” and “Island Girl.” John enjoyed a series of top-selling albums during this time, including Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (1973) and Rock of the Westies (1975). As one of the top acts of the 1970s, Elton John became equally famous for his live shows. He dressed in fabulous, over-the-top costumes and glasses for his elaborate concerts. The Economic pressures of being inland causes a small family to leave their home for an escape into the sun. Living in brutally cold weather has grown a damper on the family. Mid way to paradise, the ship crashes in the south, nearest to a small island with no way back to the north. While some escape by boat, a few are left to the wrath of the sea. In the months ahead, Island guy and Island Girl further explore the daring of the island, creatures, and riddles that have been left behind by a mysterious ancient civilization. It is told in these riddles that will direct the boat back home and away from disaster.
