Über die Jahre ist aus dem Sponsoring eine echte Partnerschaft geworden, von der beide Seiten profitieren. Von der gemeinsamen Aktion zum Gewässerschutz profitiert auch die Umwelt. Zur Erinnerung: Auf der Boot, der weltgrößten Wassersportmesse, begann mit einem Gemeinschaftsstand eine Aktion, die Kanuverband, Ruderverband, Sporttaucher, Segelverband, Messe Düsseldorf und Kunst- stofferzeuger weiter entwickelten. Inzwischen wird auch der Müll- und Abfallsammelsack, kurz MUSS, hinter dem Kanuten, Ruderer und Team Kunststoff stehen, immer wieder in die Aktion Dr. Michael Zobel einbezogen, sorgt so für sauberere Gewässer, vor allem aber für mehr Umweltbewusstsein. In sportlicher Hinsicht ist zu bemerken: Die Kanutinnen und Kanuten mit dem Kunststoffauf- druck auf den Trikots und den „Kunststoff“-Aufklebern auf den Booten sind nicht nur sehr plasticseurope.org sympathisch, sondern auch extrem erfolgreich und Dauergäste auf den Siegerpodesten bei Weltcups, Europa- und Weltmeisterschaften. Dahinter stehen lange Trainingstage, manche Quälerei, Entbehrungen, Eltern, die den Traum ihrer Kinder von einer Sportkarriere unterstützen, Trainerinnen und Trainer, die sich engagieren, ein Verband, der es immer wieder schafft, die nötigen Strukturen auf die Beine zu stellen, und das Daumendrücken der Fans nicht nur aus Deutschland.

Deutschen Meisterschaften in Brandenburg zeigten sich die DKV- Olympioniken in den Entscheidungen sowohl über 200m als auch über 1000m überwiegend im Bilde und platzierten sich in den Medaillenrängen. Jubel über den dritten Essener Sieg im K4 in Folge Im prestigeträchtigsten Rennen des Tages, dem Kajak-Vierer der Herren Leistungsklasse über 1000m, sicherten sich die Athleten des Kanuverbandes Nordrhein-Westfalen mit dem K1- Bronzemedaillengewinner von London Max Hoff sowie mit Torben Fröse, Max Rendschmidt und Kai Spenner den Titel vor dem Quartett aus Berlin mit den Olympia-Vierten im K4 Marcus Groß und Norman Bröckl sowie Hendrik Bertz und Robert Gleinert und dem Boot des KC Potsdam mit den Olympiastartern Ronald Rauhe und Tim Wieskötter sowie Tobias Werder und Jochen Kaiser. Souveräner 2000m-Sieger in Duisburg: Max Hoff K2-Olympiasiegerin Franziska Weber (Pots- dam) verwies auf der 1000m-Distanz ihre Goldpartnerin von London Tina Dietze (Leipzig) und die K4-Silbermedaillen- gewinnerin Katrin Wagner-Augustin (Potsdam) auf die Plätze.
