A Message to Fellow Enthusiasts All Over the World of HONDA Sports 2-seaters (1963-70) from Your Friends in Japan: "Join us this autumn at a great event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Honda Sports 500/600/800 Series!" DATE: 13th & 14th (Sun & Mon) October 2013 LOCATION: Twin Ring Motegi Circuit in Tochigi Prefecture, North of Tokyo ************************************************************** Dear Friends, On behalf of the enthusiastic owners in Japan of Honda Sports (S500, S600 and S800) cars, built between 1963 and 1970, we would like to encourage all the similarly passionate aficionados (owners or not) around the world of those coupes and convertibles to come visit Japan in October 2013, to participate the two-day memorial event to celebrate the historic car model's half-century anniversary. In the autumn of 1963, at the annual Tokyo Motor Show, Japan's foremost motorcycle manufacturer Honda unveiled its first passenger car for the commercial market -- a tiny convertible called S500. Fully featuring advanced engineering know-how which Honda had acquired since the early 1950s, with its 2-wheeler product development and international motorcycle racing activities, the S500 was simply an extraordinary performance car at its birth. With its all-aluminum, DOHC engine's displacement soon to be expanded to 600 cc, and then to 800 cc, the Honda Sports was to become an automotive legend. "Without doubt," wrote Britain's Autocar magazine, after testing an S800 in 1967, "It is the fastest production one-litre car in the world. From an engine of just 791cc, it offers more performance than its 1.3-litre European competitors." The rest, as cliche goes, is the history. And now, to celebrate the 50th birthday of our most beloved Honda Sports models, members of several owners' clubs in Japan are preparing for a two-day event on 13-14 October of 2013, with such programs as time trial, parade circuit run, talk shows, and much more! Participants from overseas will be very welcome -- please feel free to contact us for details of the event. We look forward to meeting all of you at Twin Ring Motegi! Best wishes, May 2013 Members of Organizing Committee Honda Sports 50th Anniversary, October 2013 Honda Twin Cam Club, Tokyo ************************************************************** FB: http://www.facebook.com/HondaSports50thAnniversary Twin Ring Motegi: http://www.mobilityland.co.jp/english/motegi/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Ring_Motegi For Google Map search: Twin Ring Motegi, 120-1 Hiyama, Motegi, Tochigi, Japan.
