    1 PLAYLIST April 27th 2016 9AM 2 The Beatles - Revolution 1 - The Beatles (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: John The first song recorded during the sessions for the “White Album.” At the time of its recording, this slower version was the only version of John Lennon’s “Revolution,” and it carried that titled without a “1” or a “9” in the title. Recording began on May 30, 1968, and 18 takes were recorded. On the final take, the first with a lead vocal, the song continued past the 4 1/2 minute mark and went onto an extended jam. It would end at 10:17 with John shouting to the others and to the control room “OK, I’ve had enough!” The final six minutes were pure chaos with discordant instrumental jamming, plenty of feedback, percussive clicks (which are heard in the song’s introduction as well), and John repeatedly screaming “alright” and moaning along with his girlfriend, Yoko Ono. Ono also spoke random streams of consciousness on the track such as “if you become naked.” This bizarre six-minute section was clipped off the version of what would become “Revolution 1” to form the basis of “Revolution 9.” Yoko’s “naked” line appears in the released version of “Revolution 9” at 7:53. The Beatles - Blackbird - The Beatles (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Another Paul McCartney solo performance for the “White Album.” Paul wrote “Blackbird” at his Scottish farm house and the song was started and finished in 32 takes, 11 being complete run-throughs of the song, on June 10, 1968.

On Sunday, March 18, at 1:00PM, HIFF presents GRACE JONES: BLOODLIGHT AND BAMI, directed by Sophie Fiennes, a uniQue documentary providing an exclusive look into the world of pop culture mega-icon Grace Jones, playing at the Bay Street Theater. As part of “Thaw Fest,” HIFF organized a master class to study two interpretations of the William Shakespeare classic “Romeo & Juliet” and invites participants to compare versions from Franco Zeffirelli and Baz Luhrmann, followed by a live performance at Guild Hall. The event will take place on Saturday, March 24 at 4:00PM in Guild Hall. In conjunction with The Hamptons Arts Weekend or “Thaw Festival” HIFF also presents a family screening of THE BREADWINNER, directed by Nora Twomey, with Executive Producer, Angelina Jolie, about a young girl supporting her family when her farther is wrongfully arrested during a Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.     The Fab Faux brings the music of The Beatles to Northampton May 03, 2009 The Fab Faux will perform on Friday night at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton. By KEVIN O'HARE For starters, forget every notion you may have ever had about tribute bands. The Fab Faux don't weary goofy wigs, they don't get decked out in phony Sgt. Pepper's uniforms and they don't talk between songs with bogus British accents. But they just might be the most authentic live interpreters of the music of the Beatles on the planet. Well, perhaps other than Paul McCartney when he takes his own band on the road. The Fab Faux will be playing the Calvin Theatre in Northampton on Friday night in a show billed as "From the Cavern to the Rooftop." Led by bassist-singer Will Lee, best known for his work in the band on "The Late Show with David Letterman," and singer-guitarist-keyboardist Jimmy Vivino, a longtime member of Conan O'Brien's band, the Fab Faux formed in 1998 and have been drawing raves along with jaw-dropping looks of amazement from audiences ever since. Lee, whose musical resume reads like a who's who of rock 'n' roll history, spoke recently from his home in New York about the group's background and its goals. He's particularly the right guy for his role in the Faux, in part because he has played with three Beatles (McCartney, Ringo Starr and the late George Harrison) and even played on a track with the late John Lennon as well, but more on that later.
