INTRODUCTION The recently completed Floyd Landis' decision represents the most extensive and intensive examination to date of the laboratory procedures in use in World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratories. Earlier cases have challenged the testing procedures 2 as, for example, in erythropoietin (EPO), 3 nandrolone, and homologous blood transfusions, 4 but none match the challenge in the Landis case, which went far beyond the testing methodology for the detection of testosterone. The Silent Partner: How the Ford Motor Company Became an Arsenal of Nazism Abstract Corporate responsibility is a popular buzzword in the news today, but the concept itself is hardly novel. In response to a barrage of public criticism, the Ford Motor Company commissioned and published a study of its own activities immediately before and during WWII. The study explores the multifaceted and complicated relationship between the American parent company in Dearborn and the German subsidiary in Cologne. The report's findings, however, are largely inconclusive and in some cases, dangerously misleading. This thesis will seek to establish how, with the consent of Dearborn, the German Ford company became an arsenal for Hitler's march on Europe. This thesis will clarify these murky relationships, and picking up where the Ford internal investigation left off, place them within a framework of corporate accountability and complicity.

These murders – these lynchings – were witnessed by an estimated 10,000 people, twenty percent of the population in Duluth at the time. Michael Fedo, The Lynchings in Duluth at 66 (Minnesota Historical Society, 2d ed. 2016) (hereinafter “Fedo”).1 Photographs of the gruesome scene, with the proud, grinning faces of the all-white mob crowded around the dangling corpses, were made into postcards and sold as souvenirs. Id. at 110. The lynchings were not only a foul blot on Duluth, but the entire state as well. Not surprisingly, memories of the incident faded and it soon became a forgotten episode in Minnesota history. Thanks to recent historical research, particularly that of author, teacher, and Duluth native Michael Fedo, facts surrounding the incident and subsequent events have been unearthed and the story once again placed in the public eye.
