The year 2007 should be a year to remember for Whtaker. After winning almost every Critics Award, he was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actor, the Best Actor SAG and BAFrA Awards, and nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as Uganda dictator ldi Amn in Fox Searchhght's "The Last King of Scotland." The fil is a historic drama which documents the regime's brutality durig the 1970's as seen through the eyes of his personal physician. And in addition to ths acclaim, his independent fIlm "American Gun," a movie which he produced and starred in, has been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. He has garnered critical attention for his performance on this season's "The Shield" opposite Michael Chiks.
