It is located near the Chamundi Hills, east of the city of Mysore in the Indian state of Karnataka. Its construction was completed in 1861 and was initially used by the Wodeyars, kings of Mysore as their home (when the present Mysore Palace (Amba Vilas Palace) was under construction after the previous palace burned down). It is now used as an art gallery and a function hall. The palace is one of the seven palaces of the royal city of Mysore 6th Place - Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary About - Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary Ranganathittu's islets were formed when an embankment across the Kaveri river was built between 1645 and 1648 by the then king of Mysore, Kanteerava Narasimharaja Wadiyar.[7] These islets, originally numbering 25, soon started attracting birds.
