Championship Program 2019 CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS HOSTED BY BETHEL UNIVERSITY WELCOME TO THE 2019 CROSSROADS LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS Dear Friends, Family and Fans, On behalf of Bethel University and their President Dr. Gregg Chenoweth, along with Athletic Director Tony Natali and his outstanding staff, we would like to officially welcome you to the 2019 Crossroads League Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships. We are thankful you are here! Our athletes are some of the finest in the world, and have trained hard for this very moment. To have friends, families and fans encourage them in this moment is inspiring and a tribute to the com- mitment they have made to their team, this sport and you. We hope that you will enjoy your time at the championship that is hosted by Bethel University. Bethel is one of 10 universities that make up the Crossroads League, and we encourage you to visit our website at www.crossroadsleague. com to learn more about our conference and outstanding universities. In the Crossroads League, we are not shy about sharing our love, commitment and desire to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all we do.     Crossroads League Timeline April 10, 1959 – An organizational meeting was held in Huntington, IN, attended by representatives from Huntington College, Concordia College, Tri-State University, and Indiana Tech. Richard Klopfenstein was elected to serve as Chairman, while Murray Mendenhall Jr. was chosen as Secretary. Motions were carried to include Basketball, Baseball, Golf, and Tennis as sanctioned sports. Further motions established All-Sports Points systems and regulations for competition. At this time several possible conference names were presented including: North Central Indiana Conference and Mid-Indiana Conference, but no final decision was made at this time. o Richard Klopfenstein spearheads move to create a broad based athletic conference for colleges throughout Indiana sharing faith based heritage and athletic competition. Klopfenstein would serve as the MCC’s first President beginning in 1959 and remain active both in the MCC and at Huntington University where he would serve as Athletic Director and coach. Klopfenstein is widely regarded as the “founding father” of the MCC. May 14, 1959 The name Mid-Central College Conference is chosen by a 5-4 vote over Northern Indiana College Conference. June 1, 1959 The Mid-Central College Conference Constitution is officially ratified. 1959-60 Huntington College wins the first MCC All-Sports Trophy. Tennis, Basketball, Golf and Baseball complete the first year of championship play. September 17, 1963 Membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics NAIA is granted. 1964-65 Badminton, Bowling, Volleyball, Table Tennis, are all hosted as single day tournaments for MCC institutions. 1965-66 Track & Field officially added as MCC sport. 1966 Saint Francis College joins the MCC as the 5th member institution 1967 Soccer officially added as MCC sport.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 21, 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Team Released The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third- team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March. The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.     COMPETITIVE CHEER All business conducted by sport committees must be submitted as recommendations to the Administrative Committee. I. Regular Season A. Crossroads League Cheer will follow the NAIA guidelines in regards to: 1. Maximum number 10 Contests. One scrimmage. Minimum number of regular season countable competitions (4) 2. 24 week season 3. For a student athlete to participate in Crossroads League competitions, they must have been certified as NAIA eligible with the conference. 4. Participating schools: Bethel University, Indiana Wesleyan, Marian University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Spring Arbor University, Taylor University, University of Saint Francis, II. Rules Governing Play: NAIA Cheer Rulebook will be used for Championship Competition. Competition rules, score sheets, rubrics, judges, etc. must meet current NAIA Guidelines within the capabilities of the facility. III. League Championship The Crossroads League Conference Cheer Champions will be determined at the Crossroads League Conference Championship Competition. A. The CL Conference Championship will be hosted on an alphabetical order rotating basis beginning 2021. The team in position to host has until August 1st to confirm. If they are unavailable to host, it then goes to the next team in alphabetical order until a host is secured. B. Must be held 2 weeks prior to NAIA Nationals Championship date. (makeup date within 7 or 8 days of the National Qualifying Competition and must be a weekend day). (All depending on NAIA ruling about when conference championships are to be held) C. Should the host school also be hosting the Crossroads League Basketball tournament on that Saturday, Cheer will begin at 12:00 noon start time and basketball will move to a 7:00pm start time.
