The Rub is an institution in Brooklyn. What started in 2002 as a classics and hip-hop party held on the first Saturday of every month at Southpaw became a movement. As a crew and separately, DJ Ayres, DJ Eleven and Cosmo Baker have released over 50 mix cds, 10 records, won the 2006 Scion Mix contest, and appeared on MTV Mixtape Mondays, in The New York Times, Spin, Vice, XXL, The Fader, Urb (Next 100), NY Press (Best Party in NY), Village Voice (Best Party in Brooklyn), Entertainment Weekly and countless other magazines and websites. In 2006 the boys took the party on the road, touring 40 cities in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
