5779 MONTHLY CALENDAR Calendar for the Hebrew Months HRTI T September 2018 5779 MONTHLY CALENDAR Calendar for the Hebrew Months HRTI www.hrti.co.za T September 2018 10 Sep 2018 19 Sep 2018 10 Sep 2018 The month of Tishrei begins the period of autumn. The tribe corresponding to this month is Ephraim. Tishrei is linked with the Tribe of Ephraim, who was Joseph’s second son. When Ephraim was born Joseph said, “For G-d hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction”, as such His name means doubly fruitful. The root word for his name means to bear fruit. This word is the same word used in Genesis 1:22 when G-d said, “be fruitful and multiply”. In the Bible, Tishrei is called Ethanim, which means to have enduring strength. It was named Ethanim because of the ancient streams that continued to flow in Jerusalem. For this reason it is known as “the month of the strong” or “the month of the ancients” (Yerach Ha’eitanim). This gives us the picture of the Ancient of Days who sits upon His throne who will never be removed. Deuteronomy 11:12 says, “the eyes of Elohim thy G-d are always upon it (Israel), from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year”. This month is opportune time to realign with the eyes of G-d and be strengthened by the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). T October 2018 24-30 Sep 2018 1 Oct 2018 2 Oct 2018 10 Oct 2018 The month of Cheshvan is the second month of the period of autumn. The tribe corresponding to the month of autumn is Manasseh. Every year we have access to a double portion as we align with Elohim (G-d) during the autumn season. Historically the month of Cheshvan is the month that the flood began and ended. When the waters assuaged and the fountains of the deep were stopped, humanity was given a new lease on life on the earth through Noah and his family. G-d had chosen to destroy His creation because man had become so wicked that his imagination was only evil continually. Mankind had chosen to pursue only evil and turn away from his created purpose, which is to be the dwelling of G-d and establish His image on the earth. T November 2018 9 Nov 2018 The month of Kislev is the third month of the period of autumn. The tribe corresponding to the month of autumn are Benjamin. Kislev is also linked with the Tribe of Benjamin, who was Jacob’s second son born to Rachel. When Benjamin was born his mother in her dying breath named him Benoni, which means son of sorrow. Jacob renamed him Benjamin, which means son of the right hand or son of strength. When Jacob blessed him he said, “Benjamin shall ravine as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.” When Moses blessed him he said, “The beloved of Elohim (G-d) shall dwell in safety by him; and Elohim (G-d) shall cover him all day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.” During this month we have the opportunity to be renewed in faith and enter into a new level of rest knowing that our G-d is able to supply our needs according to His riches and glory. When King David found himself I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness. Incline Your ear to ,יהוה excommunicated from the common wealth of Israel and running for his life after being anointed King he said, “In You, O me, Deliver me speedily; Be a rock of refuge to me, A house of defense to save me. For You are my rock and my stronghold; For Your Name’s sake lead me and guide me. Bring me out of the net which they have hidden for me, Ěl of truth. ”. The actions of others may have an effect on our quality of life but if we trust in Elohim (G-d) we will find ourselves in the יהוה For You are my stronghold. Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O place of wholeness. T December 2019 2-10 Dec 2018 9 Dec 2018 The month of Tevet is the first month of the winter season. The tribe corresponding to this month of winter is Dan. Every year during the winter season we have an opportunity to subdue our carnal nature, see what we have not seen and allow Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to empower us to judge all things correctly. This is so important because it allows us to finish this season of blessing well and position ourselves to begin a new cycle of G-d’s blessing again during Pesach (Passover). Tevet is linked with the Tribe of Dan, who was Jacob’s first son born to Bilhah Rachel’s handmaid and his fifth born son overall. When Dan was born Rachel said, “G-d hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son”, as such his name means a judge. The root word for his name means to subdue or to judge T January 2019 21 Jan 2019 7 Jan 2019 The month of Shevat is the second month of the winter season. The tribe corresponding to this months of winter is Asher. Asher was Jacob’s second son born to Zilpah Leah’s handmaid and his seventh born son overall. When Asher was born Leah said, “Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed”, as such his name means happy. The root word for his name means to be upright or to advance in the right way. When Jacob blessed Asher he said, “Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties”. When Moses blessed Asher he said, “Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil. Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.” Asher was the tribe that G-d favored more than any other tribe. His territory in Israel was known for its wheat, oil, wine, bread and the new wine signifying the fullness of G-d’s blessing. T February 2019 19 Feb 2019 6 Feb 2019 The month of Adar is the third month of the winter season. The tribe corresponding to these months of winter is Naphtali. Naphtali was Jacob’s second son born to Bilhah Rachel’s handmaid. When Naphtali was born Rachel said, “With great wrestling’s have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali”, as such his name means wrestling. The root word for his name means to be crafty or deceitful. When Jacob blessed Naphtali he said, “Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words”. When Moses blessed Naphtali he said, “O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full of the blessing of Elohim: possess thou the west and the south”. Naphtali was the tribe filled with favor. Nazareth, which was within his territory, was where Y'shua grew up and began His ministry. T March 2019 21 Mar 2019 8 Mar 2019 Adar 2 T April 2019 20-27 Apr 2019 6 Apr 2019 The month of Nissan is the first month of the spring season. The tribe corresponding to this month of spring are Judah. This season begins with Pesach (Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread) which celebrates the Lamb of G-d who took away the sins of the world. We also begin Counting the Omer this month which leads us into Shavuot (Feast of Pentecost) where we receive fresh provision and power as Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) activates His fruits within us. Judah, who was Jacob’s fourth son born to Leah. When Judah was born Leah said, “Now will I praise Elohim”, as such his name means praise. The root word for his name means to extend one’s hands in reverence or worship. When Jacob blessed Judah he said, “Judah, you are he whom your brethren shall praise; your hand shall be in the neck of your enemies; your father’s children shall bow down before you. Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you are gone up; he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be”. When Moses blessed Judah he said, “Hear, Elohim, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people; let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou a help to him from his enemies”. Judah always went first into battle revealing to us the importance of our praise to G-d in overcoming the HaSatan (the Devil). T May 2019 2 May 2019 8 May 2019 9 May 2019 6 May 2019 The month of Iyar is the second month of the spring season. The tribe corresponding to this month of spring is Issachar. Issachar, who was Jacob’s fifth son born to Leah. When Issachar was born Leah said, “G-d has given me my wages because I gave my servant to my husband”, as such his name means “there is recompense”. The root words for his name, nasa and sakar, mean to lift up or to bear and wages of one hired.

C-MATS Question: What were the final words of Moses? These final words of Moses are a combination of blessing and prophecy, in which he blesses each tribe according to its national responsibilities and individual greatness. Moses' blessings were a continuation of Jacob's, as if to say that the tribes were blessed at the beginning of their national existence and again as they were about to begin life in Israel. Moses directed his blessings to each of the tribes individually, since the welfare of each tribe depended upon that of the others, and the collective welfare of the nation depended upon the success of them all (Pesikta). came from Sinai and from Seir He dawned on them; He shined forth from יהוה ,And he (Moses) said 2 Mount Paran and He came with ten thousands of holy ones: from His right hand went a fiery commandment for them. came to Israel from Seir and יהוה ?present the Torah to the Israelites יהוה Question: How did had offered the Torah to the descendants of יהוה Paran, which, as the Midrash records, recalls that Esau, who dwelled in Seir, and to the Ishmaelites, who dwelled in Paran, both of whom refused to accept the Torah because it prohibited their predilections to kill and steal. MATSATI.COM Teaching Ministry פרשת ויחי Parashat Vayechi Genesis 47:28-50:26, 1 Kings 2:1-12, Luke 4:31-5:11 Dan and Ephraim not mentioned in Revelation This week’s Torah portion, Parashat Vayechi, concludes the book of Bereshit / Genesis. In this last Torah portion, we read how before Jacob died he spoke prophetically over each of his sons, (Bereshit / Genesis 49) then his children buried him in Canaan in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite that Abraham had purchased. (Bereshit / Genesis 49:29) We read on how his brothers were afraid and Joseph said that He was in the place of God, that he forgave them of their sins against him. We read then of Joseph’s death at 110 years old and his command to bury his body in the same location as his fa- ther, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. While reading through this week’s Torah portion, there are a few things that jump out of the text from the blessing that Jacob had spo- ken over his brothers. The two brothers we are interested in are Dan and Joseph specifically: Dan (49:16-18) Dan shall govern his ָּ֖דן ָיִ֣דין ַעּ֑מֹו ְּכַא ַ֖חד ִׁשְב ֵ֥טי ִיְׂשָר ֵֽאל׃ יְ י הִ ־ דָ ן֙נָ ֣ חָ ׁש people, As one of the tribes of Israel.17 ֲעֵל ֶ֔י־דֶרְך ְׁשִפ ֹ֖יפן ֲעֵלֹ֑י־אַרח ַהֹּנֵׁשְ֙ך ִעְּקֵב֔י־סּוס ִַוּי ֹּ֥פל ֹרְכ֖בֹו 1 Digging Deeper Torah Series Dan shall be a serpent by the road, A viper by ָאֽחֹור׃ the path, That bites the horse’s heels So that his rider I wait for ִֽלָיׁשּועְתָ֖ך ִקִּ֥וִיתי ְי ָֽהוה׃ is thrown backward 18 Your deliverance, O LORD!
