He was 58 years old. Patrick passed away Sunday in Texas, where he had hosted the morning show on Houston’s KTRH 740 AM since 2011. His death came just days after making an on-air announcement that he had exhausted all options and would stop treatment for the esophageal cancer he’s battled for two years. “There will be no more fighting, there will be no more going back to the hospital. It’ll be up to God, whatever God decides to do that’s what I will do,” he told listeners on July 5. “I also understand that because of that I have to take the high road, I have to say this is what we’re going to do. If this works that’s great but if it doesn’t work and at some point it won’t then I’ll just say you know thank you for everything.” “Matt, a two-time Radio and Television Broadcasters Hall of Fame inductee, a true conservative, spent more than three decades on the radio, sharing so much with millions across the country” KTRH posted in a statement on its website. “As a veteran of radio, he delivered award-winning broadcasts year after year that embody the very foundation on which our country was founded.” Patrick spent over 30 years on the radio in Northeast Ohio, most of that time at Akron’s top-rated WKDD. He also had stints at Akron’s WHLO AM/640 and WTAM AM/1100 in Cleveland. “So very sorry to hear Matt Patrick passed away Sunday afternoon,” WKDD’s morning host Keith Kennedy wrote on Facebook. “He was a gifted performer on the radio but most importantly a father, friend and husband. The WKDD family sends our best to his family. Thanks for the memories … the world won’t be the same.” Patrick is survived by his wife, Paula, and three children, Jake, Alexandra and Alanna. Hudson City Schools Closing Information Hudson City Schools Uses
Hudson City Schools Closing Information Hudson City Schools uses a variety of resources to notify parents of school closings, most commonly due to severe weather. In addition to Blackboard Connect calls, the district’s website and E-alerts, closing notifications are announced on TV, radio and posted on many storm alert and school closing websites. Important things to note about school cancellations: The Blackboard Connect system will dial every number in the system within a 10-minute period, regardless of recipient location or time zone. (i.e. parents who travel for business). If a 2-hour delay is called, it is important to have alternative plans in place for childcare as needed. In addition, it is also important to plan for the entire day to be cancelled. During a 2- hour delay, it may be decided that weather conditions or other conditions have not improved enough to hold school for the remainder of the day. Parents will need to monitor information coming from the district during the 2-hour delay, including Alert Now calls and e-subscribes to adjust plans accordingly. The Hudson High School schedule varies by day during a 2-hour delay. Please familiarize yourself with the 2-hour delay schedules posted on the Hudson High School website. PreK-8th grade information about a 2-hour delay is also posted on the individual building websites. Should severe weather arrive in our area close to dismissal times for our schools, we will hold students in our buildings until we know it is safe to release them to ride the bus or walk home.
