SIll, In continuation of my letter No. 442, dated 2!1th February hoSt, to your address, I have DOW the honour to submit proposals for -the revised survey settle ment of 55 Government villages now forming the Kbatav T:Ilnka of the SaMra' Colleetorate •. I say" in eontinuation ", because all the villages now reported· on formed, together with those of Man, one and the same Mlnka when the original rates were introduced. (See Appendix R.) The circumstances of both ta.lukas are therefore identical, as far as proposals for revision are conoerned. • 2. Besides the 55 separate villages mentioned above, the present p;oposals include several pieces of land appertaining to the old hill-forts of Bhushangad . and Vardhangad: and also those lands which were ~ /?ee para.~ 2 of the lUn omitted it from the Man report in consequence of their reVlSlOll repo being situated within the limits of KhaMv, and which belong to the fort of Mahimangad. On the other hand, there are some lands of Bhushangad which are necessarily excluded from this report, as they lie in the adjoining taluka of Khanapur. They will be dealt wita when that truuka is revised. Included in these proposals there are, besides the villages and scattered lands already mentioned, portions of GovernIIIent land in the inam villages of Pimpri and Snndarpur. 3. The villages now reported on came under original settlement, as shown below:- Nnmberof F ......er Tliluka. Year of Authority. Villap. Settlement. R....."ks.. 1 2 3 4 5 . , • . •• 31 Kh&t&v ... ... The revi.,ion measurement and classification or all these villages were Re . ti carried out at the same time, anei under the same rules aur":'::~~,,1'cl...~.;..~: and system described in my report above mentioned: and I need not go over the same ground again by minutely describing the processes. It will be enough to give the results. They are, for measurement, as shown below:-. • , - !New Numben Old N.mhen. Acre .. ·... d Ac ..... The irrigated area has largely spread during the lease. The people of KhaU:v are in no way behind those of Man in their industry and ingenuity in the matter of utilising the water of streams: and streams available for this pur pose are numerous, especially.in the northern and western villages of the taluka.
