NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDERS 2019 FOOTPATH 7 SALCOTT, AND FOOTPATH 5 SALCOTT IN THE BOROUGH OF COLCHESTER; FOOTPATH 18 TOLLESHUNT KNIGHTS AND FOOTPATH 1 TOLLESBURY, FOOTPATH 5 TOLLESBURY IN THE DISTRICT OF MALDON On 24 May 2019 Essex County Council confirmed the above orders made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the orders as confirmed as shown on the order maps is to divert: 1) A part length of Footpath 7 Salcott commencing from a point by the junction with Footpath 4 running in a south easterly direction across a field and up the sea wall for a total distance of 313 metres to a point on the corner of the sea wall where it continues unaffected, to an alternative route of a variable width of between 1 and 1.5 metres commencing from a point located on the sea wall where it connects to Footpath 4 running in a southerly direction along the sea wall for a total distance of 136 metres to the aforementioned end point. 2) A part length of Footpath 5 Salcott commencing from a point on a farm track running initially in an easterly then generally southerly direction across a field and reservoir crossing the parish and district boundaries to continue first as Footpath 18 Tolleshunt Knights and then as Footpath 1 Tollesbury for a total distance of 442 metres to a point where it meets a farm track, to an alternative route 2 metres in width commencing at the aforementioned start point running in a generally westerly direction along the farm track for a distance of 47 metres to a point located at the north west corner of the field then running in a southerly direction along the field edge for a further distance of 298 metres to a point located at the boundary of the reservoir. The path then continues in a southerly direction at a width of 1.5 metres parallel to the aforementioned boundary for a further distance of 42 metres to a point at the south west corner of the field then running in a generally south easterly direction crossing an existing footbridge for a final distance of 98 metres to the aforementioned end point. 3) A part length of Footpath 5 Tollesbury commencing from a point on the sea wall running in a south south easterly direction across a drain and field for a distance of 122 metres to a point where it meets a track then running in an east north easterly direction along the track for a final distance of 55 metres to the junction with Footpath 18 where it continues unaffected, to an alternative route of a variable width of between 1 and 1.5 metres commencing at the aforementioned start point running in a south easterly direction along the sea wall for a total distance of 125 metres to a point where it connects to Footpath 18. CONTINUED A copy of the Orders and the Order maps have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Maldon District Council Offices, Princes Road, Maldon, Essex CM9 5DL and Colchester Library and Community Hub, 21 Trinity Square, Colchester, Essex, CO1 1JB and at Chelmsford Public Library, Market Road CM1 1QH during normal working hours. Copies are available on request from the Chelmsford Library at a charge. The alternative routes come into force on 21 June 2019, and the old routes shall be stopped up with effect from 28 June 2019, but if a person aggrieved by the orders wants to question their validity, or that of any provision contained in them, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 13 June 2019 make an application to the High Court.
