Sales Maker | Volume 28 | Spring 2021 | page 6 This edition of Tips for Success features District Sales Representatives Rick Bertolasio, a U.S. Army Veteran who has been with the PA Lottery Erie office for 13 years, and Scott Summa, who has worked out of the Wilkes-Barre office for over 7 years. Q. What advice do you have for retailers about selling the new Cash 5 with Quick Cash game that is launching soon? Scott S: Focus on knowing the product and asking for the sale, which are Best Practices. Retailers should look over the quick reference guide that we sent out and understand the new changes to the game. Q. What are some other Best Practices that retailers can follow to help grow lottery sales? Rick B: Posting winning tickets is a key component to become a successful retailer. Players not only like to get paid by the retailer where they purchased their tickets, but they also like to see that there are winners where they play. Retailers should also rotate their inventory often – out with the old to make room for the new! Scott S: I always tell my retailers that paying winning tickets is very important. Putting money back into the hands of your customers will not only help boost lottery sales, but will also allow the customer to buy more products throughout the store as well. The bottom line is that customers will return to stores that pay winning tickets. I also encourage retailers to check their Active Packs report weekly to gain a better understanding of what games their customers are buying and which games they can settle for credit to make space for a new game that will sell better. Q. How can retailers be better prepared for your next store visit, especially during the pandemic? Scott S: Retailers can manage their packs and make sure they check the outstanding pack report for returns. Doing this and having packs ready will help tremendously and will cut down on the time we are in your store. With COVID-19, we try to make our stops as quick and efficient as possible. Also, please wear your masks. We wear masks for your safety and ours and we ask that you do the same. Rick B: When it comes to the spread of COVID-19, we must all do our part and be vigilant in following guidelines provided by the PA Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and disinfect Lottery equipment often. Final Thoughts Rick B: It’s time to spring clean! Replacement of old and damaged lottery signage with new signage keeps your store fresh and clean, and that can go a very long way, almost guaranteeing a customer’s return visit. Let your District Sales Representative know if you would like any worn signage replaced!

PA Lottery Player LIVE on National TV A Beaver County woman was part of a special, virtually presented New Year’s Eve celebration live on ABC’s broadcast of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021.” After winning a PA iLottery Prize Drawing, Sara Bosh was entered to have a chance to win $1 million from a Powerball® promotion. Twenty U.S. lotteries participated in this promotion, which in Pennsylvania also included a Second-Chance Drawing. The other top finalists were from the lotteries in the District of Columbia, Florida, Indiana and Missouri. The winner of the “POWERBALL First Millionaire of the Year” was Carlos Mabry from Washington, D.C.
