Rob Zombie said, “I have the privilege of re-imagining ‘Halloween’ for a new generation of audiences with our new production coming out next year. The original ‘Halloween’ is hallowed ground to me, and I’m glad that audiences will be able to see it again in theaters for the first time since 1978.”

ABOUT THE ORIGINAL “HALLOWEEN:” While many horror films have been released involving teenagers getting hacked to pieces by a masked madman or gruesome killer, “Halloween” remains the mother of them all. The original 1978 cult horror classic directed by and produced by Moustapha Akkad, starred the then young ingénue , along with Donald Pleasence, , P.J. Soles, and Kyle Richards.

The original “Halloween” tells the story of Michael Myers. Institutionalized since he was a young boy after murdering his sister, Myers escapes and is discovered heading back home to terrorize the quiet community which still remembers him.

On a cold Halloween night in Haddonfield, Illinois, in 1963, six-year-old Myers (Tony Moran) brutally murders his teenage sister after he witnesses her having sex with her boyfriend. Myers is then locked inside Smith's Grove Warren County Sanitarium, where he is placed under the care of Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence,) the only one person who truly recognizes the pure evil within him.

During October 1978, (15 years later,) Myers escapes from the sanitarium. After witnessing the escape, Dr. Loomis heads back to Haddonfield, since he knows that Myers will kill again that Halloween night. Now wearing a pale white mask, dark blue jumpsuit and wielding a butcher knife, Myers begins stalking three teenager girls – (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her friends Annie Brackett (Nancy Kyes) and Lynda van der Klok (P.J. Soles.) With the help of the town’s Sheriff, Leigh Bracket, (Charles Cyphers,) Dr. Loomis hunts for Michael, hoping to put an end to his grisly, murderous spree.

While “Halloween” has been endlessly copied and parodied, it still remains the quintessential teenage horror film. “Halloween” can still make audience members fearful as soon as they hear Carpenter's chilling music and watch victim after victim being pursued by the shadowy incarnation of evil – Michael Myers himself.

Since l978, eight “Halloween” films have scared audiences around the world. In late October 2006, Trancas International producer Malek Akkad and writer/director Rob Zombie will begin pre-production on “Halloween 9,” which will be distributed to theaters nationally on Oct. 19, 2007, by Bob and Harvey Weinsteins’ Dimension Films.
