However, they are ac- tually highly trained KGB spies, who must kidnap out a high-ranking defector and return him to Russia. With Quarterflash’s ”Harden My Heart” playing in the background, we’re swept away to a bar in Washington, D.C., 1981. Elizabeth Jennings is getting some inside info from a member of the Department of Justice. That night, as she’s removing his clothes in bed, he continues telling her about ”the sheer number of people dedi- cated to destroying our way of life” while she pleasures him. We next see her leav- ing, removing her blond wig and driving away. Three days later, we see Philip Jen- nings and another man waiting to exe- cute a hit. Elizabeth pays a man for a few moments worth of looking out his window. Philip waits for Elizabeth’s signal from the window. He waits for the man to approach. The man pauses before reaching the spot where Philip is waiting, then runs away. Philip and his accomplice give chase, with Philip identifying himself as ”immigration.” Philip and his accomplice follow the man into an alley, where the man ducks in for a moment and stabs Philip’s cohort in the stomach before continuing to flee. Philip catches up to the man, who pulls a blade on him. After a brief fight, the man tells Philip he knows he’s not supposed to be killed, but Philip tells the man he has no idea how badly he’s wanted. ”I could deliver you in a hundred pieces and get a medal for each one.” Philip secures the man and Elizabeth drives up in a car waiting to take the man away. The man shouts for help while being pushed into the car as Philip acts like he’s a cop and gives the man his Miranda rights. Philip hops into the driver’s seat and takes off. He stops in an alley to change the license plates on the car and drives away again. 3 The Americans Episode Guide Philip and Elizabeth drop their colleague off near a hospital for treatment, instructing him to identify himself as a John Doe and walk to the hospital from the drop-off spot. Philip and Elizabeth drive off with their captor asking the to consider his offer to help. Philip droves up to a dock and they watch a cargo ship sail away. Philip turns and asks, ”Why is everyone so punctual in.

  • My Walk with the Ancients
MY WALK WITH THE ANCIENTS By Vincent James Stanzione (This is a preliminary ‘Essay’ presented to the Newark Earthworks Center and the participants of the 2009 ‘Walk with the Ancients’ and Newark Earthworks Day 2009. This is not edited much so please read it lightly as if out walking barefoot. I just wanted to write something about ‘my’ experience and ‘our’ experience together on the Walk with the Ancients. I would also like to know what you would add to what I have written here of our experience walking the Great Hopewell Road. So in your own good time let us share our story and see if we can’t create something that tells of what we did together with our feet, legs, bodies, minds and spirits. I just want to say I wrote this in good will and hope my opinions can be seen as openings to a greater dialogue and not as the last word or anything close to something ridiculous like that! I hope my writing is helpful in promoting both exchange and change for a better life. Best of the best to all of you, Vinny Stanzione) The Great Hopewell Road Path of Pilgrimage Chillicothe to the Octagon Earthworks of the ‘Great Circle-Octagon Mound City’ October of 2009 Why I write I write in fulfillment of my social and cultural obligation to the people of the Newark Earthwork Center in Newark Ohio who invited me to participate in this year’s ‘2009 Walk with the Ancients.’ When I left Ohio I promised several people that I would write my reflections on our experience of walking together on the Great Hopewell Road.

  • Annual Meeting in Tulsa (Hosted by Elmus Beale) on June 11-15, 2019, We Were All Energized
37th ANNUAL Virtual Meeting 2020 June 15-19 President’s Report June 15-19, 2020 Virtual Meeting #AACA Strong Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, our 2020 annual AACA meeting in June 15-19 at Weill Cornell in New York City has been canceled. While this is disappointing on many levels, it was an obvious decision (a no brainer for this neurosurgeon) given the current situation and the need to be safe. These past few weeks have been stressful and uncertain for our society, but for all of us personally, professionally and collectively. Through adversity comes opportunity: how we choose to react to this challenge will determine our future. Coming away from the 36th Annual meeting in Tulsa (hosted by Elmus Beale) on June 11-15, 2019, we were all energized. An informative inaugural newsletter edited by Mohammed Khalil was launched in the summer. In the fall, Christina Lewis hosted a successful regional meeting (Augmented Approaches for Incorporating Clinical Anatomy into Education, Research, and Informed Therapeutic Management) with an excellent faculty and nearly 50 attendees at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. The midyear council meeting was coordinated to overlap with that regional meeting to show solidarity. During the following months, plans for the 2020 New York meeting were well in motion. COVID-19 then surfaced: first with its ripple effect and then its storm. Other societies’ meetings - including AAA and EB – were canceled and outreach to them was extended for them to attend our meeting later in the year. Unfortunately, we subsequently had to cancel the plans for NY.

Letter from the COPS Office January 2009 Dear Colleague: This second edition of Law Enforcement Intelligence: A Guide for State, Local, and Tribal Law Enforcement captures the vast changes that have occurred in the 4 years since the first edition of the guide was published in 2004 after the watershed events of September 11, 2001. At that time, there was no Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Information-Sharing Environment, or Fusion Centers. Since the advent of these new agencies to help fight the war on terror, emphasis has been placed on cooperation and on sharing information among local, state, tribal, and federal agencies.

Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters. The first explores the ways in which Netflix's development during its early years a DVD-by-mail company – 1998-2007, a period I am calling "Netflix as Rental Company" – lay the foundations for the company's future iterations and successes. During this period, Netflix adapted DVD distribution to the Internet, revolutionizing the way viewers receive, watch, and choose content, and built a brand reputation on consumer-centric innovation.

  • Cinema, Democracy and Perfectionism: Joshua Foa Dienstag in Dialogue
Cinema, democracy and perfectionism CRITICAL POWERS Series Editors: Bert van den Brink (University of Utrecht), Antony Simon Laden (University of Illinois, Chicago), Peter Niesen (University of Hamburg) and David Owen (University of Southampton). Critical Powers is dedicated to constructing dialogues around innova- tive and original work in social and political theory. The ambition of the series is to be pluralist in welcoming work from different philosophical traditions and theoretical orientations, ranging from abstract concep- tual argument to concrete policy-relevant engagements, and encourag- ing dialogue across the diverse approaches that populate the field of social and political theory. All the volumes in the series are structured as dialogues in which a lead essay is greeted with a series of responses before a reply by the lead essayist. Such dialogues spark debate, fos- ter understanding, encourage innovation and perform the drama of thought in a way that engages a wide audience of scholars and students.
