PASTORAL MEASURE 1983

NORTHERN PASTORAL SCHEME 2011

Coming into operation 1st March 2012

The Church Commissioners for the make this Scheme under sections 8, 17, 18, 19, 31, 32 and 39 of the Pastoral Measure 19831 , as it has effect in the Isle of Man 2, and with the consent of the Lord Bishop of Sodor and Man.

1. Title The title of this Scheme is the Northern Pastoral Scheme 2011.

2. Commencement This Scheme shall come into operation on 1st March 2012. 3. Interpretation In this Scheme — "the Board" means the Sodor and Man Diocesan Board of Finance; "the Commissioners" means the Church Commissioners for the Isle of Man; "the Measure" means the Pastoral Measure 1983, as it has effect in the Isle of Man; “the Sulby area” means that part of the ecclesiastical parish of lying to the west of a line drawn from a point on the boundary of the ecclesiastical parish of 800 yards east of the A17 (Sulby-Andreas) road due south to the A3 (Ramsey-Kirk Michael) road, thence westwards along the of the A3 road to a point 55 yards east of Sulby Bridge, thence in a generally

southerly direction along the road or path running up the east side of Narradale and connecting paths (including part of the ) to the A18 mountain road at the East Mountain Gate, and thence along the middle of the A18 road to the boundary of the ecclesiastical parish of near Snaefell.

4. Revocation The following instruments are revoked — (a) the Andreas and Pastoral Order 1993; (b) the and Michael Pastoral Order 1993; (c) the and St Olave's North Ramsey Pastoral Order 2002.

5. Bride, Lezayre and North Ramsey (1) A new benefice, named the benefice of Bride, Lezayre and North Ramsey, is hereby created by the union of the benefices of Bride, Lezayre and St Olave North Ramsey. (2) A new parish, named the parish of Bride, Lezayre and North Ramsey, is hereby created by the union of the parishes of Bride, Lezayre (excluding the Sulby area) and St Olave North Ramsey. (3) The area of the new benefice created by paragraph (1) is the new parish created by paragraph (2). (4) The right to present the rector to the new benefice created by paragraph (1) shall be exercised in a series of three turns by Her Majesty The Queen and the Lord Bishop of Sodor and Man, and in every such series of turns the first and third turns shall be exercised by Her Majesty and the second turn by the Lord Bishop . (5) The new parish created by paragraph (2) shall belong to the deanery of Ramsey. (6) The parsonage house of the benefice of Lezayre, known as The Vicarage, Churchtown, Lezayre, shall be the parsonage house of the new benefice created by paragraph (1) . (7) The parsonage house of the benefice of Bride, known as Bride Rectory, is hereby transferred to the Board to be held by the Board for disposal in accordance with paragraph 9 of Schedule 3 to the Measure.

6. Andreas, Ballaugh, Jurby and Sulby (1) A new benefice, named the benefice of Andreas, Ballaugh, Jurby and Sulby, is hereby created by the union of the benefices of Andreas, Ballaugh and Jurby.

2 (2) A new parish, named the parish of Andreas, Ballaugh, Jurby and Sulby, is hereby created by the union of the parishes of Andreas, Ballaugh and Jurby with the addition of the Sulby area. (3) The area of the new benefice created by paragraph (1) is the new parish created by paragraph (2). (4) Subject to paragraph (5), the right to present the rector to the new benefice created by paragraph (1) shall be exercised in a series of three turns by Her Majesty The Queen and the Lord Bishop of Sodor and Man, and in every such series of turns the first and third turns shall be exercised by Her Majesty and the second turn by the Lord Bishop . (5) If immediately before the coming into operation of this article the Reverend Cyril Rogers is the incumbent of the benefice of Ballaugh, he shall be the first incumbent of the new benefice created by paragraph (1). (6) The new parish created by paragraph (2) shall belong to the deanery of Ramsey. (7) The parsonage house of the benefice of Ballaugh, known as the Rectory, Ballaugh, shall be the parsonage house of the new benefice created by paragraph (1). (8) The parsonage house of the benefice of Andreas, known as the Rectory, Village Road, Andreas, is hereby transferred to the Board to be held by the Board for disposal in accordance with paragraph 9 of Schedule 3 to the Measure.
