IT MAY NOT BE USED FOR COMMERCIAL OR BUSINESS PURPOSES. Dear Fellow Rotarians, What an honor you have given me to serve as your District Governor for 2021– 2022. My hope for this Rotary year is to overcome the challenges we have seen with the COVID pandemic and to make our time together a great year! We are Rotary. We have the will and strength individually and collectively to meet all challenges that may get in our way. We are Rotarians. “Service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on this earth.” We have assembled a tremendous Leadership Team for District 6880. This talented and dedicated team is here to help every Club and every Rotarian succeed. You will find their name, chair position, and contact information in this directory. They are just a phone call away. I want to thank your Past District Governors (College of Governors) for their past ser- vice to this district and their continued involvement and council. Their commitment to Ro- tary and this district cannot be understated. Author John Maxwell stated that “Everything rises and falls on Leadership.” I have eve- ry confidence in the world with the leadership at the Club level. Each Club President in District 6880 has Rotary at heart and believes in the motto of “Service Above Self.” RI President Shekhar Mehta tells us to “lead by example.” Rotarians in each Club of Rotary District 6880 are the heart and soul of Rotary. United we can do great things and continue to serve humanity. President Mehta continues his mes- sages of “Do More – Grow More,” and “Each One – Bring One.” We must all do our part to grow Rotary. Each Club will set their goals for the 2021 – 2022 Rotary year. I challenge Clubs to set realistic goals and work vigorously to achieve them. I have set my District Initiatives and will need everyone’s help to achieve them along with RI President Shekhar Mehta’s goals for his year. President Mehta tells us “We Are Change Makers.” As we begin our Rotary year together, we must remember what is important to us through Rotary: Rotary’s Core Values: Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity and Lead- ership. This year’s Rotary theme says it all. “Serve to Change Lives.” Yours in Rotary Bruce McNeal Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta Shekhar Mehta is only the 4th Indian in 115 years to be nominated as the President of Rotary Interna- tional where he will serve for the year 2021-2022. Mehta was born in 1959 in Kolkata, India. A keen academician, he graduated from St. Xavier’s Col- lege, and has the unique combination of Masters in Commerce, a qualified Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and Company Secretary. He is head of the Skyline Group which is engaged in Real Estate Development in dif- ferent parts of India, including the largest group housing in the state of Rajasthan. He is a serving trustee of Shelter Box and Operation Eyesight India. Mehta joined Rotary in 1985 and has been Chairman of the Rotary Literacy Mission, Rotary Foundation India, Rotary India Centennial Celebrations and Rotary India Hu- manity Foundation. Shekhar Mehta is the recipient of the Service Above Self Award, The Meritorious Ser- vice Award, and the Distinguished Service Award which are the highest awards of Ro- tary International and the Rotary Foundation. He will serve as the world leader of 1.2 million Rotarians in 200 countries and geographical areas. Mehta is married to Rashi Mehta. She is a social worker and a stage artist having per- formed in socially relevant plays across India. Bruce McNeal District Governor Rotary International Harry Bruce McNeal is a life-long resident of Dothan, Alabama and has been very active in his community in both a professional and volunteer capacity. Bruce retired from the Dothan Fire Department at the rank of Battalion Chief after 20 years of service and retired from Southeast Alabama Medical Center as Director of Safety and Prehospi- tal Outreach after 29 years of service and holds a BS degree in Safety Engineering. Bruce served as Executive Director of Wiregrass MAST (Military Assistance to Safety and Traffic) a Non-Profit 501C3 (Air transport of sick & injured civilian population by Military Helicopters) for 30 years. Bruce has previously served as Red Cross Field Service Chair for the Southern half of Alabama; Chairman of Wiregrass Chap- ter of the American Red Cross for 6 years; Red Cross Disaster Chair and Action Team Member; City of Dothan Planning Commissioner for 2 years; City of Dothan EMS Committee 4 years; Dothan – Houston County Emergency Management Agency Emergency Operations Center POD Coordinator for 10 years. He has provided support activities for the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in Dothan and currently serves on the Biomedical Committee. Bruce has been active in his community as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Church Finance Committee, RA Teacher, Church Medical Missions to Jamaica and has volunteered with the United Way and American Heart Association. In addition, he continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Regional EMS Agency (SEAEMS), President of Empact, and as the Medical Advisor for the Dothan Fire Service. Bruce has been a Dothan Rotary Club member since 1998. Bruce was selected to serve as Dothan Rotary Club’s President in 2007 – 2008 and is a Paul Harris Fellow X4 and is a PHS mem- ber. He has proudly served his Club as Dothan Rotary Club Historian for six years; Club New Mem- ber Involvement Chair for 3 years; coordinated Club Group Study Exchange activities for five years; coordinated Dothan Rotary Club’s 501 C3 initiative; active in Club’s successful initiative in complet- ing a one-million-dollar Miracle Field for handicapped individuals and six hundred-thousand-dollar Miracle Playground initiative. Bruce is serving as President of Dothan Rotary Miracle Field Founda- tion for a second term and spear-heading $120,000 fund-raising initiatives for repairs of Miracle Field and Playground. He wrote a Water Grant for Panama Water Project receiving a $20,000 grant from Rotary International; coordinated Club’s matching grant portion ($15,000) for Panama Bridge Project and served as a Board member for Dothan Rotary Children’s Foundation. Bruce was excited to serve on Dothan Rotary’s 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee and was instrumental in de- veloping a historical book for Dothan Rotary 100th Anniversary.Bruce was honored to serve as Dis- trict 6880 Rotary Foundation Annual Fund Chair for 2 years; District 6880 Disaster Chair for 2 years; District 6880 Assistant Governor for three years and has served on the District Governor Search Committee. He wrote the Malone Family Foundation Grant for the District-wide Dictionary Project for 5 years and Coordinated the District-wide Dictionary Project for four years. He also served as PETS faculty for four years and has served as Instructor for District Rotary Leadership Academy. Bruce was flattered to be honored as District 6880 2011 Harry Hall Meritorious Achievement Award and District 6880 2007-2008 Doug Barber Award. Bruce is married to Angela Jones McNeal. They are members of First Baptist Church, Dothan, AL. They have 4 children. Michelle is a Project Manager in Franklin, Tennessee; Jonathan, a Neuro- surgeon in Dothan; Joseph, Director of Emergency Services at Southeast Health, and Josh works in Volunteer Services at Southeast Health. Rounding out the family with 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dell Goodwin District Governor Elect Rotary International District 6880 Dr. Dell Goodwin joined the Dothan Rotary Club in September, 1996, serving in various areas of responsibilities, leadership, and/or activities since that time. Dr. Goodwin has made contributions to Rotary on the Club, District, and International Level with her long hours of dedicated service. Her steady progress is a result of many accomplishments, but the one that stands out in her success in get- ting cooperation from Rotary members, volunteers, school employ- ees, boards, and community. She has earned the respect from those around her. On the Club Level, she has been involved in the following service projects of the Dothan Rotary Club: delivering dic- tionaries to all third grade students in Dothan City Schools and Houston County Schools, White Elephant Sale, Salvation Army Bell Ringers, Senior Citizen Luncheon, Foster Children Project, Adopt A School Paper Project, Food Bank Soup Drive, Dorothy Hardwick Scholarship, Watches for outstanding 4-H boy and girl of the year, Habitat for Humanity, Polio Plus and Rotary Founda- tion Program. Dr. Goodwin has served in the following leadership roles for the Dothan Rotary Club as Club Secretary for eight years, Vice- President, President Elect, President, and as Immediate Past President.
